Manicure Monday: Holiday Edition!

Hey, all just wanted to share a quick post with you and share my manicure for Christmas week.  I really wanted to do a Holiday/Winter theme so I went with snowflakes!  Please excuse my dry skin/cuticle area and the wonky snowflake striper job!  It was the first time I used my striper in a loooong time.  I practiced on a piece of cardboard for what seemed like an hour but I really wish that my nails would have turned out like my practice snowflakes!  Here's a picture of my left hand!

And here's a picture of my right hand!  (Not too shabby huh?)

What I used:

OPI's Nail Envy (Original) Base coat
Holika Holika Magic Pop Nail Vivid in #30 Mint
White Striper polish that I got at Sally's Beauty Supply
Silver Glitter Striper that I also got from Sally's Beauty Supply
Seche Vite Fast Drying Top Coat

I used some dotting tools for the snow as well.  Hopefully, my next attempt with the stripers will come out more to my liking, but I suppose it's a cute design for my first try.  Hope you enjoyed this post!  I hope everyone enjoys the Holidays and I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!  Be safe and stay warm!

DIY: Anti-Acne Honey Cinnamon Mask

Hi all!  I hope everyone has had a great week and an even better weekend!  Can you believe that Christmas is just literally around the corner?!  I'm not really sure where December went this year, but it went fast!  So today's post is about a mask I decided to try via Youtube and the lovely Michelle Phan.  I have been under a lot of stress with work, overtime at work, school and financial things, that I have recently suffered from a really bad break out.  I have not had one like this on my face for a very long time, and it makes me so sad!  I could care less if I had a zit or a pimple, but the spots on my face are actually quite painful.

I suffer from severe cystic acne, which I go through "breakouts" with.  I do not normally get these kinds of breakouts on my face, but I always consistently have them on my back.  They have in fact become colloidal scars, which will sometimes become an irritated and angry cyst underneath the skin.  I have been to the Dermatologist for these things, but I think my only option now to actually see results is Accutane.  However, I was taking a medicine called Solodyn (minocycline) which is supposed to help treat my acne and is also an antibiotic.  I stopped taking it about 2-3 months ago because I really just do not want to take any more medicine and pump my body full of random chemicals and medicines, so I am "toughing" this out so to speak.  However, after all the medication I was taking and different prescribed cleansers and treatments, my skin has definitely improved especially my face as well as my upper shoulder/back area.  Unfortunately, my scarring remains very visible and sometimes quite uncomfortable.  They can get easily irritated and very itchy and sometimes become nodule or cystic acne.  I apologize for this long and drawn out backdrop of my skin history, but I saw this mask demo'd on a video recently and decided to give it a go.

I have been adamantly trying out and seeking more natural approaches to my particular skin issues and saw that this particular mask is for anti-acne purposes.  I also wanted to see if it could possibly reduce the size of my "under the skin" cysts that have stupidly appeared.

So, in the video it says to use 1 Tbsp of cinnamon and 3 Tbsp of honey.  I followed the suggested measurements and 30 secs in the microwave seemed a bit too hot, so I nuked it for about 20 secs.  (Still pretty hot, so let it cool a bit).  I gently applied a decent layer all over my face and began the 10 minute wait.

I used regular honey that we had in our kitchen and the only cinnamon we had was from Costco and it was the Saigon Cinnamon.  (I have no idea if there's a difference between Saigon and regular cinnamon - but I believe it is more potent or stronger taste?)  Anyway, let me tell you something... this stuff burns when you begin to wash it off.  It was an interesting burn though.  It was a touch uncomfortable, but it didn't hurt really bad.  It's hard to explain and I apologize for not being able to provide a better description.  I could feel every grain of cinnamon in the honey as I washed it off, it was almost a "sand papery" type of feeling.

This was the result right after I got all the burning craziness off my face.

Sad face, because my face hurts aside from it burning a bit.

It's a bit hard to tell in pictures, but if you look closely, you can see the cyst that is underneath my skin near the bottom of my lips on my chin.  It is super painful and it's starting to bug me a bit while I eat and chew. T___T  You can also see one on my forehead.  I tend to usually breakout in these same areas, the forehead and chin.  I sometimes also breakout near my nose area as well.  I'm not sure what to make of this mask so far besides that it definitely burns when you rinse it off.  I found that finishing with a final splash of icy cold water is a nice way to end the mask...  I will see in the morning if this mask helped lessen any irritation or reduced any swelling.  Wish me luck!  Sorry, this was a bit of a random post and was not planned at all, but I wanted to share my experience.  If you have tried this mask let me know, did it work out for you?  What are your thoughts on it?  Until next time!

Manicure Monday: China Glaze Ruby Pumps

Hi everyone!  This Manicure Monday is yet again another China Glaze polish!  I was feeling quite festive this week and wanted something "blingy"!  What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than with a bright and cheery Christmas red, complete with sparkles!?  This polish seemed to be a thinner consistency than I have experienced with other colors or shades from China Glaze.  It went on nice and smooth and has pretty red glitters!

It was super hard to capture the sparkly red glitters of this polish!  T^T  It is SO pretty in person, these pictures don't do any justice.

I totally wish I had a pair of pumps this color, sparkle and all!

I have really been enjoying this polish so much.  I apologize for the pictures, they really do not capture how beautiful this really is.  It has the perfect amount of sparkles and is such a pretty "jelly" red.  I have gotten a ton of compliments on this so far and I feel that it is the perfect traditional Christmas red with a kick of dazzle.  I feel that this color is subtle enough that it can be work appropriate (at least at my work and I work in a customer service call center) but it's still sparkly enough to catch attention.

My rating:

5/5

Pros:
Great for the holidays
2-3 coats for a nice solid color
Goes on smooth
Sparkly!
True Christmas red

Cons:
The only thing I may find a con maybe is removing it because of the glitters.

I hope that someone, somewhere found this helpful or fun! ^___^  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I'll be back with another post soon!  Until then!

[Review]: Holika Holika: Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream

Today, I wanted to share my thoughts on the Holika Holika: Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream that I picked up recently during a Black Friday sale at Pretty and Cute.  I have been wanting to try out a new BB cream for a while and decided to pick this one up because the shades that were offered, seemed less "grey" than the Skin79 BB creams that I currently have.  I was also interested in the "Aqua Jelly" part of the product.  Here's what the product description claims on Pretty and Cute: "This product contains over 70% healthy aqua.  The moisturizing jelly texture on your skin is enriched with moisture, soaking into your skin and clarifying the skin, a new moisture technology BB cream. Jelly BB makes moist and bouncy jelly skin. Jelly texture spreads evenly and is perfect for covering up facial blemishes. This is a water based range of make-up. It is able to minimize pore size."

To find out how I felt about this product, please follow me after the flip!

Manicure Monday: Holika Holika Vivid Pop Nail Polish in #30 Mint

Hi all!  So I took a couple snap shots of my recent manicure using the new Holika Holika polish I picked up from Pretty and Cute.  I have been wanting a really cute mint colored polish for a while now and decided to add it to my 30% off purchase from Black Friday.  You can check out the rest of my haul in my previous post.  Instead of having a plain solid color for my manicure this week, I decided to break out my old but trusty Konad plates!  I forgot all about them and feel bad for neglecting them because I remembered how much I love them!  So using the M71Konad plate and the Konad Special Polish in White, I got the following results!  (Note: I did use the new camera for these pictures, let me know if the quality is better!  I think so anyway lol.  Oh and please excuse the crooked designs, I know they are not straight, nor perfect but it's still cute so I decided not to re-do my nails.)

Konad plate M71 with Konad Special White polish.  I purchased these products a long time ago here.  I found out about these products and the website through Jen!  She's great, definitely check her out!  I really liked this polish, it's so pretty in person.  It went on smooth and non-streaky and came out nice and opaque after 2 thick coats, but I'm a 3-coat kinda girl, so I went with 3 thin coats to get this opaqueness.  I really like the color but I was a tad bit disappointed because I thought that it was going to be "mintier".  I guess it's the lighting, the pictures I took make it appear to be a nice true mint color whereas in some lighting in person, it appears to be more of a Tiffany blue color, or more of a turquoise.  It is still a beautiful color though!  This polish is a nice "minty" shade, however I would not dub it a true mint nor the "perfect" mint color in my personal opinion.  On a rating scale I would give this polish a:

4/5

Pros:
Smooth
Opaque
Non-streaky
Opaque in 2-3 coats.
Cute color!

Con:
Not a true mint

However, I would still recommend this color to anyone and I actually want to try out the other Holika Holika polishes as well.  We'll see.  That's it for this nail post, hope you enjoyed the new and better quality photos and my mini-review.  Thanks for reading and I will be posting my review on the Holika Holika Petit Aqua Jelly BB Cream soon!

Baby Black Friday/Cyber Monday Haul: Pretty and Cute, Urban Decay

Hey all!  I'm excited to share my mini/baby haul from the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales that I took advantage of while online surfing!  It's not a lot but it was enough for me to take a few pictures and share with you all.  I apologize in advance for the quality of the photos, my camera is not the best and with low batteries it apparently takes worse pictures. (>__< );  However!  The hubby and I invested on a high quality camcorder that also takes decent pictures, so expect better quality photos in the future.  Please take a flip and follow me to see what I got deals on!

The Man with the IRON fists and FOTD

Hi all!  I have been busy, busy, busy with my 6th week of school and trying to get all my homework done!  I did however, manage to take a break and go see a movie with the hubby!  We both love anime and anything of the same nature.  Also, we love Kung Fu movies and anythings martial arts!  Not sure if you have heard of it, but there was a new movie written by the Rza and produced by Quentin Tarantino I believe.  It was uh-mazing.  I love movies like this!!  It's a definite must-see if you liked Afro Samurai!  It's like a real life anime!   The ever-so adorable Lucy Lui was in it and Jamie Chung as well!  It was a well spent movie theater movie. For more about my day, take a ninja flip on over and read on!

Falsies, strawberry curlers attempt #2 and layout

Hi again all!  I have been on a blogging groooove, so to speak! ^__^  I decided for this post that I would test out a popular item that I have had for a long time but never really used.  False lashes!  I always loved the way some girls could wear them and the enhancing effect they have on their eyes.  I have always been quite fond of my own lashes, they're sort of wimpy Asian lashes, but they're not really short and stumpy!  (Lucky me!)  However, I really lack volume and I thought what better way to give them some "oomph" than with falsies.  Take a ninja flip and find out how I did!

Rainy day FOTD!

Hi all!  Today is super rainy and definitely feels like fall!  I have been loving the opportunities to layer up and get all comfy cozy.  My attire lately has been sweaters or long sleeved shirts with jeans and boots!  I went out for a bit with the hubby and one of our best friends today and decided I'd share my FOTD.

I apologize now, I took this picture while in the car, (don't worry I was not the one driving) and the lighting is sort of fuzzy and I also do not have a proper camera, nor do I have a super-sweet-fancy smart phone with a nice camera.  So I used my crappy whatever mega pixel camera on my old school non-touch screen LG Envy phone and this is the end result.

On my Face:

L'Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer/Highlighter Pen (You can get this at Target)
For blush, I used Tokidoki for Smashbox Skin Tint in Bella (I believe that I purchased this on BeautyTicket.com a few years ago and it was limited edition. Also, it appears that beautyticket.com is not running anymore T^T)

On my Eyes:

For Lips:

This is pretty much my everyday look since August almost!  I really enjoy the Holika Holika eyeshadow trio.  It's totally perfect for travel and the pigment and color payoff is excellent!  I would highly recommend it for the perfect, on-the-go neutral trio.  When using this trio, I personally do not usually use liquid liner because I like the softer more natural look, by just using the darkest brown color as a liner on the top lash line and lower outer corner of my lash line.  It gives a nice soft and natural effect.  I like to use this FOTD for my daily routine because it's just enough makeup to make me look polished, but not overdone.  Hope you are all enjoying your weekend and stay warm!  Until next time!

Strawberry sponge hair curler attempt #1!

Hey dudes!  Decided to put the Strawberry sponge hair curlers to the test last night.  As you may know, there are a lot of techniques for using these sponges.  You can use them on wet hair, you can use it on damp hair for 1 hour (per some websites), you can also use them on damp hair and sleep with them in over night, or you can put them in your hair while it's still damp and blow dry for about 15-20 minutes on low heat.

I decided to try sleeping with them in my hair over night for uber curly results!  (Obviously, the longer you leave them in, the more dramatic the curls!)  I started by washing my hair first, I then let my hair become about 40% damp.  Silly me, I should have just put them in when my hair was wet.  However, don't give up here just yet, keep reading after the flip!

Mini SaSa Haul!

Hey dudes! LOOOOONG time no see? A LOT has been happening since the last time I posted which was over a year ago! I'm sorry (T^T ) I have finally decided to document or "blog" if you will, the things that I have collected slowly or FOTD's/FOTN's that I may have done over the past months. It's not necessarily "for real" blogging, but it's something and I hope it encourages me to do more. I would love to take better pictures and all that, but my funds do not really permit me that privilege. I want to invest in a better camera and maybe some lighting gear before I start posting seriously. ^___^ That way, readers will actually enjoy what I post! I hope everyone has been doing well these last few months! I'm excited that fall is here and the colder weather has settled in nicely here in the Pacific North West. I love autumn and winter for the fun cozy and layered clothes! Fall fashion is beautiful! But Summer is still my favorite season! I love warm weather and fun bright and sunny days! What's your favorite season?  Click below for the mini haul after the flip!
