What's the haps and Skin crisis!

Hey all, it's been a very long time since I last posted anything beauty related.  It's partly because I've been busy moving into a new home with the in-laws and getting situated as well as working overtime and trying to keep up with school all at once.  On top of that, I haven't felt the need to post "beauty" related things because I haven't been feeling very beautiful lately!  Winter time is actually one of my favorite seasons (with Summer being my most favorite) but the weather is just so cruel to my skin!  I have been overwhelmingly dry and flaky to the point where the area around my neck was stinging if I turned my head to far!

I decided I would do a post on my skin dilemma as I figured maybe some of you have some suggestions or are maybe going through the same thing.  So if it's not one thing, it's another, or it's everything!  My skin went from painfully dry, to mega breakout city and dry!  I've gotten to the point where I have been drying out my skin on purpose to dry up my acne and painful breakouts because they're so painful.  You must be wondering why I haven't gone to Dr. Dermatologist yet.  It's because I know they will put me on Accutane and I really don't want to take that, I've read that it has wonderful results, but also really icky side effects I prefer not to experience.  When I was going to the Derm.  I was put on an antibiotic of sorts (can't remember the name of it) but I was not allowed to have any dairy 2 hours before or after taking the medication.  It also effects your birth control effectiveness as well if you are on it.  It also made me a bit sick to my stomach and I was using topical face washes as well as Differin gel 0.3.  It worked just fine for a while but it really dried my skin out terribly and the fact that my stomach was always upset was not something I wanted to endure for beautiful skin.

I decided to try my best to change up my diet, drink more water and get into more natural or organic beauty products (this was a few years ago).  But really, for me no luck yet.  I suffer from severe and painful breakouts (cystic) on occasion, but I usually have a calm spell than it's terrible for long periods of time.  I will warn you, the pictures I'm sharing are obviously not glamour shots and I apologize for my sad/grumpy face haha.  Didn't do that on purpose just kind of happened.  These pictures are not of my worst breakouts but these are one of my more painful ones.  Any suggestions on how to help would be greatly appreciated!  I haven't worn makeup for a few months now, probably since the last time I blogged.  I just have been trying to purge my skin and not add more stuff on top of it.  So I've been bare skinned for months!  I even purchased more products to review, but I can't because my skin is making it difficult haha.  Is anyone else experiencing issues?  How are you coping?  Let me know in the comments!

The giant red mountain near the corner of my nose is a cystic pimple, the kind that's a bit deeper under the skin.  It made it's way to the top where it sits; sore, swollen, angry red, irritated and SUPER painful. >__<

Dry, dry, dry!! :(

No Bueno!

On an actual beauty side note, wearing the below polish.  It's a gorgeous metallic by Deborah Lippmann in Glamorous Life.  I have been a bit obsessed with Rose gold lately and I spotted this on Pinterest, where it was described as a rose gold metallic polish.  In these pictures, it looks more beige or gold, but it does have hints of "rose" in it.  Even though it's not quite the "rose gold" I thought it was going to be, it's still a really gorgeous shade.  This was a bit of a splurge, around $18 at Nordstrom.  I apologize for the lighting in the pics below, they don't do this polish justice (trust me it does have a bit more of a rosy hue, than what is shown in the picture which is not rose at all (-___- ); )

I didn't get any pics of me wearing this as the lighting was just too off and way to difficult to work with (yellow!!! >__<)  And there hasn't been any sun lately. I hope once my face heals up or the acne calms down that I can review a new BB cream I picked up that feels really nice and review and swatch the Naked 3 palette for you!  I hope all of you are well and appreciate your patience with me and the blog! ^__^  If I don't post before Christmas, I hope all of you have a wonderful and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

PS!  I know the pictures and my acne are probably not that bad compared to others, but this is one of my lesser "severe" breakouts.  I use the word severe because my cystic acne is incredibly painful and that's severe to me.  This is not as bad as I have had before, but I'm not trying to trump that my acne is worse than anyone else's.  Just sayin'. =P

Black Friday Wishlist!

Hey everyone!  SO SORRY for yet another long hiatus!  -____-;  I have been up to my neck stressing and busy with school, work and life!  Not only is the company I work for super busy for the holiday season, the family and I also are in the midst of moving into a new home!  My in-laws purchased a new home in new area and so I've been busy moving, packing, unpacking, moving more stuff and tossing TONS of stuff!! T___T  I hate moving.  Sadly, hubby and I are actually hoping to move again, this time out of the in-laws hair and into our own little home!  We are crossing our fingers for hubby to receive a call back for a new job!  Wish us luck!

So I had a minute (and finally Internet access) and decided I should post a little something!  I haven't posted since Halloween, and that is far too long of a period of time not to say anything!  With all of the crazy good Black Friday sales, steals and deals, I surprisingly haven't really picked too many things to pick up.  One being, I do not have much spending money at this time considering moving and expenses toward moving and all that fun stuff, and secondly, everything I want is not really on sale, or I have not found the "perfect" whatever I am looking for.  Hubby went out last night and came back home with a couple movies and some new games.  I'll share later what games and maybe what I think of them as soon as I find the time to sit and veg out in front of the big screen.  I did however take advantage of a sale that I'm super excited about!  I have been following Daven Mayeda for some time, and ever since I saw him feature a NuMe hair tool, I have had my eyes peeled for a good deal and finally brought myself to buy/justified the purchase.  One of their tools is $200 normal price, but I was able to steal a lovely clip-less hair curling wand for myself at a whopping $59 steal!  70% off, PLUS an additional 10% coupon!!!! It was the most amazing thing to happen all day.  I'm super excited to get it in the mail.  I purchased the NuMe Magic Wand, I got the 32mm (for soft waves or big and bouncy glamorous curls for my long locks) in the purple model!  This sale is not going to stick around long, so if you are interested or want to take advantage now is the time!!!  I believe the sale ends this Monday!  Plus $12 for shipping, I believe my grand total was about $65 USD, but still, what a STEAL compared to $200 + shipping, for a high quality product!  I can't wait to test it out, and do a post! ^___^

Onward!  My next want on the Black Friday wishlist, (but not really because it will most likely never be on sale) is the Naked 3 Palette!!!  And of course, it is currently out of stock, and of course a whopping $52!  I have been on the fence about this palette ever since I saw images that UD were flashing about on Facebook or teasing us with on Instagram.  However, after seeing it on some lovely ladies and seeing a few reviews (like this one from Jen frmheadtotoe) I kind of changed my mind and thought, I really like feminine and romantic or flirty girly eye makeup looks and Naked 3 is the perfect palette for that.  I am also an extreme fanatic of Rose Gold lately!  I have heard that Naked 3 should suit all skin tones, but may look better on paler skin tones which is obviously a given since Naked 3 is a blush/rose gold hue'd palette!  However, after seeing it on Jen frmheadtotoe's video here and here (I think), I was sold!  I currently own the original Naked palette and completely and wholeheartedly love it to pieces and will be forever loyal to it!  When Naked 2 came out, I was not excited, nor interested in picking it up and though I think the colors are very pretty, I do not believe they would suit me (or my personality) as much as the original Naked Palette or the Naked 3 palette would.  Until I bite the bullet and drop $52 bucks on this thing, I'll just look at pictures of it, swatches and look at pictures of people with different looks from the palette! *creeper status much?* XD

And of course every girls' favorite item on a wishlist is clothes!  However, I can't indulge on this one since I have absolutely no closet space for more clothes or shoes!  Haha!  Hubby and I had to get rid of half of each of our sides of the closet to make room in the new house! T_T  It's okay, we donated all of it and also they were things we didn't wear anymore!  I hope that my 13 sweaters will keep someone toasty and warm this winter! ♥

I have also had my eye on this because I have heard so much about it! Benefit Cosmetic's Bathina!

I have seen both Jen and K.L rave about this product on Youtube and on their blogs!  I was kind of suckered in because I love things that smell nice, and my skin has been SO unruly, dry, and painfully so as well as flaky!  I have used everything to battle with it and my face just sucks up any moisture and it's still bone dry!!! (>___< )o

Another random wishlist item that I also do not need but oh so want is the Too Faced Pretty Rebel Palette.  I seriously do not need this item at all, but it's soooo pretty! Haha, I love the colors, and swatches and pigmentation shown in some Youtube videos and other blogs, make this palette so desirable!  You can also throw in a few different Too Faced products like their brushes (which are so soft I could die) and their creme' lipsticks!  So decadent and luxurious! ^.^;

So I guess that's it for my little holiday/Black Friday wishlist!  It's not much, but I thought it'd be fun to share what I have had my eye on lately!  I also hope to have some reviews of some new products I recently picked up!  I grabbed a new BB cream, cleansing oil and some face masks I hope to share my thoughts on with you all soon.  Thanks so much for sticking around and being patient with me!  I can't wait to get back into the blog-swing of things!  Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with lots of food and friends, family and lots of love!

Do you have any wishlist items or things you've had your eye on lately?  Let me know in the comments! ♥ (^.~ )v

Happy Halloween!

Hey everyone!  Wanted to do a quick post to wish everyone a Happy and safe Halloween!  Hope everyone had a fun day with costumes, candy, friends and family!  I posted a few pics of my "costume" on Instagram and Twitter, but also wanted to share them with you here. ^__^  Not too many, and it's a super simple makeup more so than costume.  I hope to have a few reviews and more mani Mondays soon!  My work schedule will be changing soon temporarily because one of my co-workers is leaving for maternity leave! ^__^

I totally forgot to draw myself a kitty nose this morning as I was in a hurry to get to work (as usual) haha!  Borrowed eyeliner from a buddy at work and completed the look in the last pic!  Also, I mentioned in a response to another blogger that I have never EVER dressed up for Halloween in my life, nor have I ever been trick-or-treating!  I have always wanted to, but never really got around to getting prepped for costumes or accessories and makeup like this.  My parents were super traditional and don't really celebrate holidays much, so they never took me trick-or-treating.  Oh well, I suppose I appreciate it more now haha.  I still got tons of candy though, from school activities and friends and stuff, just never had to go out and work for it I guess haha! XD

Let me know in the comments what you did today or if you have any Halloween party plans for the weekend!  Would love to know what you are planning and what you dressed up as! ♥

[Manicure Monday] Halloween Edition and Aki Con

Hi everyone!  It's been a while since I did a Manicure Monday!  This week, in celebration of Halloween I went with an appropriate theme with black, orange, gold, glitter, cats and spider webs!  It was fairly simple, but definitely time consuming.  I'm fairly satisfied with how it came out! ^__^  I hope you enjoy it too!

I took inspiration from a few different Youtube videos as well as nail art on Pinterest.  The only thing I wish I did differently was the spider webs, I wish they were a bit thinner. ^^;

My favorite part of this manicure was the kitty!  It was surprisingly easy to do all of the nail art you see here.  This picture and the first one is my left hand.  (I'm a righty!)

These two pictures are of my right hand.  It was really hard doing the webs with my left hand, I started over on one or two nails before I got the hang of coordinating my left hand.  I kept it simple, and would have liked to add more Halloween elements like pumpkins and ghosts or something, but didn't really have the time, so maybe next time!

What did I use for this manicure?

I used a dotting tool and a nail art brush for the spider webs and kitty.
I used a makeup sponge with a white and orange polish for the orange gradient behind the kitty.
I also used white acrylic paint by Americana to do the webs.

Nail polishes featured:

Black base - Essie Licorice
White base for kitty - Essie Blanc
Spider webs - Americana acrylic paint in White
Fine glitter - China Glaze Fairy Dust
Gold glitter on accent nail - OPI for Sephora Only Gold For Me
Base coat - OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener
Top coat - Seche Vite Fast Drying Top Coat

I was mainly inspired to do a Halloween themed manicure after watching elleandish's Youtube video.

I don't have any holiday konad stamping plates, so I decided to do my manicure freehand.  Her video is super cute, and I think I'll have to get me some holiday plates for fast and easy mani's in the future.  I then spent the rest of the evening looking up different Halloween nail art videos and decided to go with the spider web as my main design. ^__^b

I really wanted to do something Halloween themed and decided to give this a go, also because the hubby and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary by going to our local Aki Con anime and video game convention this coming Saturday!  *U* I'm super excited, we have not been to an anime/video game convention before and are looking forward to the new experience!  We've been to plenty of Comic Cons for the past few years and wanted to give Aki Con a go. ^__^b  I'll be sure to do a full post, hopefully loaded with pictures of cosplayers and fun stuff!

Are you guys doing anything fun for Halloween?  Are you doing a Halloween themed manicure?  Let me know in the comments! ♥

[TAG] Procrastinating Beauty Blogger!

Hi again everyone!  Was able to catch up on homework for the week and got everything turned in!  *Phew!*  Now, next week will be a bit of a doosie since it's finals week and the last week of my programming and Photoshop classes.  My programming class has really kicked my bum and I'm passing, however I was aiming for an A (so my GPA stays at a nice level).  Amazing what paying for school drives you to do huh?  (Back in high school I did really well, but I didn't try harder because it was too easy at the time.)  Now that I'm challenged, it feels more rewarding to know I actually earned an A.  Anywho, onto the tag!

Jen at frmheadtotoe shared this tag and I thought it would be really fun to fill in my own answers! ^__^  Also, I think tags are fun posts to do and read!  Be sure you guys do it too and leave your link in the comments! (^.~)v  Let's get to it!

[Found this image on Pinterest]

I'm an aspiring beauty blogger, but it's mostly a hobby ^__^  It helps me relax and it makes me happy.  As a beauty blogger, I really want a vanity!  I feel like vanities are things that make a woman or girl feel really feminine!  I just wanted to share a random beauty related picture, so I guess I felt the need to provide a quick blurb about it haha! ^.^;;

1. Name a beauty regimen that you rarely do?

This picture was from one of my small hauls.

It's a really funny story.  I really like make up and beauty/cosmetic related things... but I believe I only ever wear makeup oh... max two times a week!  So, I'm not sure if this counts, but I rarely actually wear makeup at all during the week haha!  Because of time constraints (I never give myself enough time to get ready in the morning before work) and lack of sleep and um... because I really love to sleep; I get up as late as possible before I have to go to work... and I suppose you could say that I just roll out of bed and on into work.  (I know, totally unprofessional, but I don't have a job where I have to work with people face to face or work in a formal work environment.)  Don't judge me!! T^T

So if that answer didn't count, I have never used or worn an actual foundation.  I've only ever used BB creams and don't really plan to switch over.  I don't really see a need to because I don't need much coverage and BB's work great for me. ^.^;  OH!  I have never contoured my face before during a typical makeup routine.  I don't have a bronzer or contouring powder and have never found the need to.  I've thought about picking one up and contouring just to see what it looks like, but eh!

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something that you do regularly?

This photo was from my review of Bubbi's Brushes!

Urm... since I do not do my makeup often enough.. I guess my answer to this question would be no, more so than it would be yes.  (I know!!! Shame on me!! OTL)  I know how bad it is for your skin (especially my skin because I'm sensitive and breakout prone) but not only am I lazy, but I forget that I should probably wash them every week even though I don't use them often.  However!!!  *saving face* I do try to wash them really well or do a deep clean at least once a month.

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?

You can find a post about this manicure here

If there's one thing that I am totally not lazy about it's my nails.  My only real dilemma with nails is finding the time to spruce them up!  With my full-time work and school schedule (granted school is only online) most of my free time after work is taken up by classes and doing homework, school projects and school related reading.  However, I usually do my nails once a week or once every two weeks.  I'm a bit "polish ADD" and change my nails or manicure often so my nails don't get too bad unless I have been really super busy!  Doing my nails is one of my favorite things to do, so it's easy for me to keep up with them.  But if you must know, I have gone a long time without doing my nails before, so long that all my polish has chipped off half-way down my nails! *shudder*  I don't like when they look that bad, so usually once my nails start to chip, if I don't have time to do a new mani, I just remove the polish and sport a bare nail for a while until I find the time. ^__^b

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product, even if you need it?

Well, honestly I don't really need any of the makeup/cosmetic or beauty related items I have/own.  I mean, I go bare-faced usually 90% of the time anyway.  So, I can go a very long time without buying or replacing an item.  I have never hit-pan on anything (eye shadow, blushers, powder), but I have used up tubes of mascara and lip gloss and things of the like before.  With that being said, I go as long without replacing or repurchasing an item as long as I can.  I'm on a very tight budget because I am the only one working between me and the hubby.  (He hurt his back about a year ago and hasn't been able to find part-time work, so he's been focusing on school. ^^b)  I only ever purchase items that I use regularly like the mascara pictured above (You can find my review here.) and things like eyeliner, lip gloss and skin care products.  I also have made it a habit to purchase things that I want when they are on sale or when I have a coupon.  This strategy helps me keep my spending in check, and I am also naturally a very frugal person haha!  ^.^;;  Ask anyone who knows me personally, and they'll tell you, I'm very responsible with money, especially when I need to be.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?

This picture is from my experiment with the anti-acne honey and cinnamon mask I tried.  I don't break out often, but when I do, it's sucks and it's the kind of breakouts that are painful. T^T

Hmm.. I feel like, sadly there's a few habits I should probably not have!  My number one worst habit?  Probably picking at my breakouts.  I already know how bad it is to pick or squeeze and scratch, but sometimes I just forget and do it unconsciously and other times, I just can't help it! XD Lol.  Especially with the acne I have on my shoulders/back... it just get's so darn itchy! T___T  My breakouts are also a tad bit abnormal, I get really bad cystic breakouts that hurt and are extremely painful to the touch sometimes. (The kind of breakouts that are underneath the skin).  And this may be TMI or totally gross, but sometimes they need to be... purged? ..Anyway, moving on!! >__>

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?

Cleaning my room.  I am notorious for getting mail, or any paper items and leaving them on the floor of my bedroom (of all places!) thinking that I'll pick them up and put them away or toss them later... and then I don't.  They sit on the floor for weeks... and accumulate!  It's horrible! T^T  I have a problem! haha!

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready to the last minute?

I usually give myself a lot of time, so I don't have to rush and I can take my time while getting ready.  Especially during special events like weddings, parties and so on.  If I'm just going out to dinner or lunch really quick with the hubby or family, or running to the store, I can be ready in like 10-20 minutes.  However, if we're in a big hurry I usually just skip makeup and hair.  This is when you'll usually see me sporting my glasses. ^__^;

8. Can you commit to spending bans?

Sort of like the previous question that was similar to this one, yes I can commit to a spending ban.  Considering a spending ban sounds very self-explanatory, I've never been on an official spending ban before, but I think I do this pretty much all the time.  I am very particular about how money is spent and I'm responsible with knowing that there are other more important things to spend money on.  Bills and things of that nature always come first.  Once I have all of my bills paid off, depending on what the hubby and I have left to use as we please is how I distinguish or justify spending "willy nilly".  Both hubby and I love to eat out, and have pretty expensive hobbies; I have my makeup and he has comics.  If I or he feels we are low in our account, we will take a look at what we've been spending our money on and decide what to cut back.  Eating out is very expensive, especially accumulated over time.  So from time to time, since we are on a budget and we are a one income family, we've "banned" eating out or buying things that aren't necessary for months at a time.  It's not very difficult, but it can take some getting used to if you are used to buying things when you want them on the spot.  What I have been doing for a long time is, if I want something that is not necessary, I usually will save up for it.  I feel like doing this not only helps me keep track of money and save a little, but helps me to appreciate the item or product once I've finally purchased it. ^__^

9. How organized are your makeup and nail collections?

I'd say they are generally organized.  They're by no means organized by color or anything of detail like that.  I simply have a drawer for all of my nail polish and I've resorted to organizing my makeup where it fits.  My hubby and I do not currently have our own place and we live with my in-laws, so you can imagine trying to cram all of our belongings and things in our bedroom.  The fact that we don't have much of our own space has also helped me save money, because I don't buy things since there's no where to put anything.  All of my makeup fits on top of my dresser and the items that I do not reach for or use on a daily basis are stashed in my makeup train case.

Well, that was it for the tag!  *Phew!*  I apologize if this was way to long and drawn out, but I'm notorious for over explaining things. ^^;

Hope you enjoyed this tag, it was a lot of fun! I hope you decide to take part in this tag also, I'd love to read your answers so make sure you comment and leave a link to your post! ^__^  Let me know if you guys are procrastinators too!

Asian Hair Dye

Hi everyone!  Sorry I've been MIA again.  I wanted to share a quick post with all of you.  I recently had this crazy urge to dye my hair!  I remember dying my hair when I was in high school and didn't like what all the bleach and processing did to my hair.  Since products have developed and are more advanced these days, especially Asian hair dye products meant for Asian hair, I am feeling like I should give it a shot.  Don't get me wrong, I really love my natural hair color super dark brown/black but I just kind of want to experiment a little, plus I can always dye it black again right? ^.~

This one is Palty: Bubble Pack Chocolate Waffle [image from Pretty and Cute]

I thought instead of going all out/all crazy from the get-go, that maybe just lightening my natural hair color would be acceptable.  Also, this is a really gorgeous brown color.  Not sure how much this would show up on my almost-black hair though.

This one is Palty Dark Ganache [image from Pretty and Cute]

I thought this was also a really gorgeous, more "natural" hair color to go from almost black to.  I like warm colors and the dark brown would be lighter on me, but subtle enough to catch people's eye (that see me everyday).

This one is Fresh Light Blythe Bubble Hair Color Kit in Berry Ash [image from Pretty and Cute]

I thought this was a really pretty color going from black hair to the Berry Ash color.  From the picture, it's definitely a nice "ashy" color, but I don't see much berry?  Anywho, I thought this would be a really pretty color to get used to, especially with it being so much lighter than my natural hair color.

This one is also by Palty and the shade is Raspberry Jam. [image from Pretty and Cute]

This would be the crazy BAMINYOURFACE color that I would want to try and just go all out.  (Even though it's not all that crazy, it's crazy for me lol)  I think it's a really cute and fun red shade.  It's still quite brown so it wouldn't be totally unnatural, but I'm still not sure.

Have any of you used any Asian hair dyes?  What were your experiences?  Which shade do you think I should try out?  I think I'm just going to dive right in, I can always dye my hair black again. ^__^;  Let me know what you think in the comments!

*SIDE NOTE*  Wanted to let everyone know, I finally joined the high-tech world and got myself a brand-spankin' new smartphone!  I now have Instagram and will begin sharing photos of daily life, beauty related stuff and most likely randomness with you soon!  Feel free to follow me, I've been having fun with cute deco pic apps!  Let me know what your favorite photo apps are, I'm totally dying to try new ones!

[Review]: Benefit Rockateur blush

Hi everyone!  I'm so sorry I have been away for quite sometime!  Took a break from nail polish so I apologize for the lack of Manicure Mondays lately.  I wanted to give my nails a breather, and let them settle down from all of the polish I use so frequently, I like to rock bare nails for a week or two just to keep the health of them decent. ^__^b  I have also been busy with the usual; life, school and work. -___-; *Being an adult ftw!* (not...) >_>;

So anywho, I picked up Benefit's Rockateur blush from Sephora about a month or so ago, and have NOT been able to put it down!  It's been my go-to blush since I bought it!  I really love the natural and glowy flush it gives me, and besides, who doesn't like rose gold?  I've been a little bit obsessed...

FOTD: Fall - L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow in Electrified 510

Hey everyone.  I decided to post my playing around with some shadows I hadn't touched in a long time.  I remember seeing the L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow Duos everywhere and had to pick up a color, but at the time I couldn't choose.  And then, I saw a post and video tutorial from Jen of frmheadtotoe.  Her post with the duo called Electrified (or #510) made me fall in love with that gorgeous deep plum color.  Her tutorial also seemed easy enough to mimic onto myself also!

If you ladies hadn't noticed most of my makeup looks consist of very minimal eyeshadow, if any, and mostly just mascara and eyeliner.  Mascara and eyeliner are really a majority staple in my collection and I do have some shadows, but I guess my problem is I have no idea how to use them! (^.^ );;

Please excuse the poor blending, as I have always suffered the lack of skills in that area, but I did my best and I even threw on a pair of falsies for added "oomph"!

In this picture, the blending isn't so bad!  But for whatever reason, the next picture doesn't really showcase it all that much! (T^T)

This closeup does no justice for how beautiful the metallic taupe color is out of this shadow duo.  It also seems that the deep plum color is washed out by the lighting as well.  I apologize, it was super cloudy/overcast and this was the rare part of the day to see some kind of light in the sky!  *shakes fist at the sky*

This full face picture, I think did a much nicer job of making that gorgeous taupe color show up more, you can see I used it in my inner corners and on the lower inner half of my bottom lashes.  You can also see more of the true color of the deep plum shadow on my outer lower lash line.

The falsies I'm using were also featured in another post, and they are from Darkness lashes.  This particular pair are called K-Ma I think. (Sorry!)  It's a Korean brand I picked up at the local Korean market that had a beauty boutique inside.  I was so ecstatic to find these lashes, I just had to pick some up, I've had the same two pair for over a year, and have only worn them twice.  (I'm a bit scared to wear them out and you would not believe how LONG it took me to get them on!!!)

So what did I use?

Face:
Benefit's Rockateur Blush (I will hopefully have a review up for this soon!)

Eyes:
L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow Duo in 510 Electrified (I purchased this at Target, you can probably get it at any drugstore.)
Darkness Lashes in style K-ma (Found at local Korean market, you  may be able to find these online.  Love these falsies, no need for mascara!)
Duo - Dark Lash Glue (I believe I got mine at Sally's Beauty Supply, but you can find this virtually anywhere!)

Brows:

Lips:
NYX Black Label Lipstick in Bling (I purchased mine here.  You can find NYX products at Ulta.com as well, but I did not see the Black Label lipsticks on the site.)
Milani 3D Glitzy Glamour Gloss in Designer Label #43 (I purchased mine at CherryCulture.com as well, but it doesn't look like they carry this color anymore.  You can find it here, Amazon or eBay.)

Sadly, you cannot see the gorgeous rose gold blush that I recently picked up from Benefit called Rockateur.  I loved it from the moment I saw pictures of it online and then in person, I had totally fallen head over heels!  There was no way I was leaving Sephora without it after having set my eyes upon it in person.  It's super gorgeous and I'm so sad that the lighting in my pictures washed it out completely!  In person, it was there, and in all of it's gorgeous rose-gold glory!  I will definitely be doing a review on this soon!  Have any of you tried it out yet? (Let me know in the comments, what did you think?)

So that was about it for the first Fall FOTD of the year!  There's a reason why I don't use eyeshadow often, it's a lot of work and I am horrible at blending.  Any tips would be much appreciated haha! ^__^  Also, by the picture above, you can tell that I have not cut my hair in FOREVER, and it's getting quite long, and the ends are FAR-IED! (T__T)  Hopefully by my new post, I will have had a haircut and my hair will feel refreshed!  Until next time, see you guys soon and again Thank you for reading! ♥ (^.~ )v

What kinds of makeup looks are you looking forward to for this fall and winter seasons?  Are you looking to do something new with your hair?  Let me know in the comments!

Also, in case you wanted to know how I did this look, I used the video tutorial below, by Jen at frmheadtotoe.

Manicure Monday: Essie Mint Candy Apple and OPI For Sephora Only Gold For Me

Hi everyone!  I'm back with another Manicure Monday and this week's mani is a kind of a last summer "hoorah" to ease into the fall season.  I don't know about you, but I love creme and pastel colors with flecks of gold, silver and copper.  For this manicure I decided to invert my usual glitter tips and started the glitter from the cuticle.

[Review]: Dolly Wink Long Mascara

Hi all!  Today, I wanted to share my thoughts and a review on my long-time HG (holy grail) mascara!  You may have seen me mention this mascara in multiple FOTD's (face of the day) and I've even done a mascara routine post in the past as well.  I apologize now, my skin is a bit dry, I've been breaking out here and there, and I look extremely tired, please excuse the dead fish-faces and dark circles. T^T

I have been using Dolly Wink's Long mascara formula for a few years now, ever since I saw Eki's review on it!  Eki is also the reason I got into fiber mascaras too, she used to use Fiberwig Mascara too, and I used that for a while until she did a comparison here.  Fiberwig's Extra Long formula was great and was my HG for a while, and then Dolly Wink became my new HG and has been ever since.

Dolly Wink is a brand created by Tsubasa Masuwaka and is also under the company Koji.  I believe this brand is very popular in Asia and probably more so in Japan.  It has super cute packaging and it's totally girly!  I'm a sucker for packaging and I love the polka dots, pink and purple.

The Long mascara formula is my favorite out of the two formulas that Dolly Wink offers.  They also offer the Volume formula which I did not like very much.  It got clumpy, didn't volumize my lashes very much at all and I disliked the formula, it was a bit thick and didn't work with my lashes unfortunately.  Once upon a time ago, I tried using both the Volume and Long formulas together, but didn't care for the results much as it was very clumpy and somewhat spidery.  (I highly dislike spidery lashes on myself).

Onto the review!  The formula for Dolly Wink's Long mascara, I find is a good balance between wet and dry.  It is definitely wet, but not so wet that it's runny or takes forever to dry.  I find the fibers to be very lengthening and gives a very natural and clean look to the lashes.  I also find this mascara to be wonderful with not smudging onto my lower lashline and it does not flake.  This mascara also does not irritate my eyes, and I am a regular prescription contact wearer.  It is also water resistant, this means that while it is not water proof, it will not run if I cry or if the weather is humid.  One of the things that I love most about Dolly Wink mascara is that it lasts all day and is easily removed with warm water.  When you wash it off, you can sort of pull it off your lashes in little clumps.  I use jojoba oil to remove my eye makeup and I take a little on my fingers and gently rub/press the oil into my lashes and gently remove all of the residue.  It comes off like magic!

As you can see, my lashes are not exactly super short or stubby, but without mascara they are not very noticeable.  I also have absolutely no volume whatsoever to my lashes either. T^T  They can appear sparse and most of the time point straight and sometimes downward if they aren't curled.  In the first picture are my bare lashes, curled using a traditional eyelash curler.  In the second picture, is a full 2 coats of Dolly Wink Long mascara and curled.  I curl my lashes with a traditional curler before mascara, and after I have applied the desired amount of coats I want, I use an electric lash curler to finish the lashes off.  You can see a drastic difference in length of my lashes between the before and after picture.

Here you can see the difference the mascara makes in length.  Left: No mascara.  Right: 1 coat.

In this picture, you can see that the left eye is not curled with the electric curler and the right eye is.  An electric lash curler makes a big difference with this mascara and I don't mind the extra step because of the results.  You can see that my lashes are nicely separated and not clumpy at all.  A few of you have also mentioned that sometimes it looks like I'm wearing falsies!  I'd say the only downside of using Dolly Wink mascara or any fiber mascara in general (from my own experiences) they do not keep a curl if the lashes are curled with a traditional curler.  I find that my lashes will droop if I do not finish them with the electric lash curler.

You can see in this picture the progression between coats and what a difference the electric curling does for my eye and lashes.

And there ya have it!  Nicely defined, separated and fully lengthened lashes!

Would I recommend this?

I highly recommend this mascara if you like clean, clump-free, non-spidery, natural looking, long lashes without the use of falsies.  This mascara would be great for those of you who have naturally voluminous lashes and want length.  I would also recommend this to gals with shorter lashes as well, since this is decently buildable, you can create really great length.  I usually go with 2 coats for a natural look, and if I have more time to get ready or if there's a special occasion I will go with 3 coats.

What would I rate this?

Even though this is my HG mascara, I would overall give it a rating of 4/5.

Length: 5/5 - This is the best lengthening mascara I've ever tried.
Volume: 1/5 - This is definitely not a volumizing mascara, but I gave it 1 out of 5 because it still makes my lashes more noticeable and more than one coat helps thicken up my lashes just a teeny bit.
Curl: 1/5 - I would say that this mascara (and all the other fiber mascaras I've used) requires the extra step with the electric lash curler to keep the curl in all day and all night.  I have tried curling with just a traditional curler but this mascara will have my lashes droop and straight after a few hours.
Brush: 5/5? - The brush is your typical spooly.  It's thin and easy to use when getting to the tiny lashes or the outer lashes at the corner of the eyes by using the tip.  I didn't rate this down because the brush works fine for the formula.
Packaging: 5/5 - It's super cute!

Pros:
Lengthens
Looks natural and clean
Does not flake
Does not smudge
Water resistant
Separates lashes well
Gives a falsie look without falsies
Easy removal

Cons:
Does not keep curl without an electric lash curler
Not water proof
A little expensive
Online availability only.  (Hard to find if you're in the States).
Time consuming application - This mascara works best with patience and  layering the coats.  You need to wait for each coat to dry before adding another coat and then finally finishing off with the electric lash curler.

Where can you buy this?

I have purchased the Dolly Wink Long mascara from Sasa.  Sasa carries both the long and volume formula if you are interested.  You can also find the volume formula at Pretty and Cute as well.  You can also probably find it for a much better price on eBay, Amazon or any other store.  I stick with Sasa and Pretty and Cute because I trust their products and know that I am receiving authentic products.  The Dolly Wink Long mascara is usually between $13 - $23 USD.  $23.00 is the most expensive I've seen it and at Pretty and Cute.  It used to be around $11-12 on Sasa, but after they upgraded the packaging the prices went up a bit.  If you guys find a better deal that is from a legitimate store or seller, please let me know!

Additional info:

I have a Panasonic Electric Eyelash curler and always use it with Dolly Wink mascara or fiber mascaras.  You can find this on Target.com or online in general ie; eBay, Amazon, etc.  I also have the Shiseido eyelash curler for my traditional curler as well.

Have you ever tried Dolly Wink mascaras before?  If so, what do you think of it?  Do you think you'll give it a try if you haven't?  Let me know in the comments!  Also, if you have any mascara recommendations you think I should give a go, let me know! ♥  I hope this review was helpful!  Thanks for reading!  (^.~ )v

FOTD: Sweet and Simple

Hi everyone!  I wanted to share a quick FOTD with you all.  I haven't really been wearing too much lately, but have been using a few items like crazy!  I recently purchased a Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal shadow in the shade Inked in Pink.  I really love using this really lightly by dabbing all over the eyelid for an iridescent and brightening affect, it also lasts all day with very little creasing.  In the picture you can't really see I'm wearing it, but I am lol.

I also recenty purchased Bobbi Brown's gel liner in Espresso.  I used this by pushing it into my lashline with my Bubbi detail brush (you can find the brush review here.) and it looks super natural and I love the shade of brown it is.  It's perfect for those "no makeup" makeup looks.  And of course, used Dolly Wink Long mascara and Lioele Auto Eyebrow pencil in Grey Black.

I used my Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB cream in #2 and used Milani's baked blush in Rose d'oro.  I also used my Tarte Amazonian Micronized Finishing powder.  For highlight on the tops of the cheeks, brow bone and inner corner of the eyes, I used Benefit's Watt's Up cream highlighter.

For my lips I used Lioele's Pop Tint in Cherry Tint and Lioele's Blooming Gloss in Vanilla Pink for a sort of ombre/gradient lip affect.  (It's not super noticeable in the picture unfortunately!)  I'd say this has been my regular daily makeup routine lately.  It's fast, easy and simple, but still looks put together.

Hope you liked this FOTD, it's been a while since I shared one!  What's your daily makeup routine like?  Please let me know in the comments! (^.~ )v

Tricks of the trade: My nail art tools

Hi everyone!  I decided today I would do a really quick post about the tools I use when doing the nail art that I have featured on my blog so far.  I had a request to share some of the things I use for doing my own nails.  I used the brushes that I'll feature in this post, in my recent Manicure Monday Feather nail art post.  You can find it here.  I do not always use all the tools because I do not always do nail art and sometimes just prefer a colored polish.  (Especially when I'm feeling lazy haha.)

*Side note!  I finally got my new camera and totally loving it!  I hope the quality of my pictures are better now!  Working on getting good lighting is the only thing I worry about now.  It was a bit cloudy today but still somewhat sunny, hopefully you can see everything clearly!  Let me know what you think about the picture quality in the comments as well please!  ^__^ *

I use acrylic paints to do really fine-detailed, intricate or delicate nail art.  It is important to remember to use water-based paints because it is easier clean up and easy to fix if you mess up.  Soap and warm water easily cleans the paint off of your brushes and hands.  Currently, I only have red and white paint.  I'm planning on getting black and maybe some more colors, or at least basics like blue, green, yellow, etc.

I don't really think it matters what brand of acrylic paint you use, I just picked ones that were water-based to use with my nail art.  I suppose you could use this paint to actually paint or decorate and what not too lol.  I believe these bottles were fairly cheap and I only spent maybe $2 bucks on each bottle and it will last a long flippin' time if you are only using it for nail art!  I purchased the paint from my local Michael's.  You could probably find theses at any craft store though.

If I don't want to go all out and break out dotting tools or nail art brushes, I opt out for these stripers.  I purchased these at Sally's Beauty Supply.  These are extremely affordable as well.  I like the quality of these and they have good color payoff.  I plan to pick up a gold glitter striper soon.  You could use just these to do the feather nail art, but it is a bit more difficult as the brush is a bit thicker than the ones I bought separately and if you mess up, you can't start over unless you remove all the polish and start from scratch. T^T

These are dotting tools I use to do polka dot nail art, make little characters or faces with or any basic circle shapes for nail art.  I purchased these dotting tools for dirt cheap on Born Pretty Store.  I believe they ship worldwide and they carry very inexpensive nail art tools, nail art decals and more.  My only grip about the store is that their shipping time is very slow, I think I chose free shipping?  (I wasn't able to add something to my cart at the moment to see what the shipping was sorry!)  It took almost over 2 weeks to receive the dotting tools when I ordered them.  I purchased these dotting tools about a year ago so I can't remember exactly how much I spent on them plus shipping, but I know for sure it was no more than like $8 bucks.  Also, since I purchased these quite a while ago, their shipping time may have improved. ^^; Certainly, a great investment if you like doing your own nails.  These dotting tools are nice and sturdy and do a great job for what I need them for.  I would definitely recommend them.  You could also find tools like these on eBay for much cheaper I'm sure.

Also!  You don't necessarily need dotting tools!  You could use old bobby pins that you don't use anymore, pencils or old pens that don't have ink in them anymore.  You can even use toothpicks to do nail art that you could do with a dotting tool.

These are nail art brushes.  They are used specifically for nail art (so it says on the package).  These are made by A.S.P (All Season Professional) and it came in a 4 pack.  There are 3 different striper brushes, each a different size and meant for a different line weight and the tiniest one is used for the most fine detail.  The non-striper brush could be used for other things like painting flowers etc.  I purchased these brushes from Sally's Beauty Supply also.  These brushes are great, they have a nice quality, are firm and sturdy and do a great job with fine detail.  I used these brushes in my Feather Manicure Monday post.  I used the longest thin striper brush for the feathers and it worked great for the kinds of strokes I needed to do.  This brush set was probably the most expensive out of my nail art tools, I believe these were around $15.  I am definitely pleased with these brushes and would recommend them for fine detail and delicate art on nails.  You can probably find something similar on eBay or online for cheaper also.  I believe that these brushes are also synthetic.

I use these tools when prepping for a manicure or pedicure.  All of these items can be purchased at Target or Sally's Beauty Supply.  I picked up the clear plastic cuticle pusher-thingy from Sally's Beauty Supply, and the rest of the items were from Target, except for the Cheeky crystal nail file which was a Christmas gift from a dear friend ^__^

1.  Clear plastic cuticle pusher? (I don't know what these are called lol)  It has two ends to push your cuticles back.  I don't like to cut my cuticles so this is a perfect alternative.  One end is just the plastic end of the stick, but flattened and shaped to get into hard to reach parts of your  nail to push cuticles back, or like what I do, I like to use the plastic end to scrape the gunk out from under my nails.  I like to use the red rubbery end to help push back my cuticles gently.

*Side note:  I forgot to include them in my pictures, but I really like to use cuticle removing creams or oils to help me push them back easily and I like cuticle creams and oils such as Burt's Bees and the mango oils you can get from Sally's Beauty Supply (there is also a cream cuticle remover by the same company that makes the mango oil that I like to use too).  You can use anything really to condition your cuticles; olive oil, grape seed oil, jojoba oil, chapstick or lipbalm, etc.  And of course hand moisturizers for when I am done with my nails.  My hands get really dry especially when using nail polish remover or acetone.  I don't really have a favorite hand cream, they all work about the same for me.*

2.  Toe nail clippers by Trim.  I purchased this at Target.  It's a great size and easily cuts my nasty, thick, hard-to-cut toe nails. (LOL TMI sorry!)

3.  Finger nail clippers by Trim.  Also purchased from Target.  It has a neat nail clippings catcher that I like and clippers by Trim are always nice and sharp!

4.  Nail buffer.  Also purchased from Target.  This thing helps to smooth and even out the surface of the nails, and also helps buff and shine them.  I do not use this every time I do my nails, but I do when my nails are not very even on the top for a better polish application.  I do not use this every time because my nails can get fairly thin already and they get peely and split sometimes so this is a no-no for me.

5.  Crystal nail file.  I have used the crappy cheap ones you can buy from the store that look like #6 and the ones you can get from Revlon or whatever other brand there is at Target, but I absolutely LOVE and would recommend hands down a crystal nail file!  It is something every manicure-loving girl should have.  It helps to shape my nails nicely and leaves the edges of my nails super smooth.  If I use this file, I never have nails that catch on my clothes or scratch!  I believe my friend purchased these on eBay.  But don't worry, I'm pretty sure any nail supply store or Sally's carries crystal nail files. ^__^b

6.  Emery board.  I sometimes use these on my finger nails if I don't feel like cutting them and I need to remove some length from my nails quickly or if I am in a hurry.  I usually use emery boards on my toe nails because they seem more abrasive and toe nails are a lot tougher than finger nails.  I purchased this at Target as well.

Well that was it for all the things I use when doing manicures and pedicures, and also my nail art.  I hope this post was helpful and gave you an idea of the kinds of things you may want to use to do your own nail art or just give yourself an at-home manicure and pedicure. ^__^b  Please note, I did not create this post to tell you that you need all these things to do nail art, it's just sharing what I use and how I like to do my nails ^__^v

Let me know in the comments what kinds of tools or products you like to use when you do your nails.  I'd love to know! (^.~ )v

-EDIT-

I wanted to add this link because I should probably make it clear, that I did not come up with the use of water-based acrylic paints for nail art.  I actually didn't know you could use it for nail art either until I came across this lovely lady's nail art tutorials.

This video was the first video that I ever saw from her and really wanted the same results in nail art, so I decided to try out acrylic paint for nail art myself.  However, I just noticed that via some of her other videos, she uses "acrylic paint for nails" for her nail art.  I have never seen acrylic paint specifically for nail art before, but I'm sure you can find it via Google searching.  Hope this was helpful and cleared up some confusion for ya'll! ^___^ ♥

Oh oh and oh!! *IMPORTANT*  If you are concerned about "health risks" with acrylic paint used as nail art paint, be sure to do your research. The brand of acrylic paint I have is called Americana DecoArt and is non-toxic and water-based.
