Manicure Monday: Valentine's week!

Hey all!  I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a while!  I have been busy with school and work has also been very busy and I have picked up overtime shifts!  I wanted to make some extra money for my vacation to California this week!  I'm so excited, it's been so long since I have been on a trip anywhere!  I will be in California for a week visiting my extended in-laws!  I'm super stoked and can't wait to hit the beach!  This post will be featuring Essie nail polish!  This is my first experience with Essie and I was very excited.  Find out what I thought about Vanity Fairest after the flip!

So I was on Pinterest and Youtube looking for really cute heart Valentine's inspired nail looks and found a couple I liked and decided to put a couple of them together.  For this weeks manicure, I used two coats of Essie's Vanity Fairest as the base color.

I actually really liked the consistency of this polish.  It's was the perfect pinky-nude color and even has teeny, tiny micro shimmers in it!  I love how dainty and feminine this shade was.  The application was decent, it was a bit streaky and I actually had to start over, because I liked the intensity of the shade with 1 coat, but it was too streaky, so then I did 2 coats and then 3, but I thought it looked too thick.  Started over and decided on 2 coats!  Enough for the pinky hue to pop and for the shimmers to make an appearance.

For the hearts, I used China Glaze Ruby pumps and a white polish from a striper I picked up at Sally's Beauty Supply.  And as usual, I began the manicure with a base of OPI's Nail Envy Nail Strengthener and for the top coat I used my favorite, Seche Vite top coat.  All in all, I was quite happy with this mani and I hope you enjoyed it!  For the hearts, I used dotting tools I purchased from Born Pretty Store.

What did I think of my first Essie polish experience?  I loved this!  They have a great range of colors and their formula is very nice!  I like the smooth feel of the formula, and with this sheer polish, 3 coats is nicely opaque. Here is my rating on Vanity Fairest:

Rating:
4/5

Pros:
Opaque in 3 coats
Smooth formula
Long lasting
Nice pink/nude shade
Subtle micro shimmers
Work appropriate (alone)

Cons:
Streaky finish if using 1 coat (unless you have tips for avoiding this!)

I think I'll be purchasing and trying out more colors from Essie in the future!  I really liked the way this mani turned out and I hope you enjoyed my special Valentine's Day inspired manicure as well!  I should be enjoying *hopefully* warm and sunny California later this week, and I'm sure I'll have pictures to share!  Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day and week, I'll see you all soon! ♥

PS.  I usually use Photobucket for editing my pictures.  And when I say edit, I mean changing the lighting and adding my blog link, but I noticed today that Photobucket changed their editor!!!  So now my pictures are not consistent anymore!  Any suggestions for a good photo editor that is free would be awesome!  I have yet to purchase photoshop or any other program so free is my only option.

  3. wow, that's such a pretty color! I was just realizing that all of my polish colors are basically bold, solid shades, and I want to get some pastels. Just got a lovely gold glitter that I'm loving, though the micro shimmers in Vanity Fairest are just awesome; I would love a bunch of colors with that little hint of shiny in them :D

    1. You should go check out the polish section at Target, I noticed that the Essie brand carries a lot of nice nudy/pale/pastel-y colors! The brand is a nice quality too and pretty affordable. ^__^

Also, I'm pretty sure that photoshop is giving away their oldest version of photoshop as a free download. And it's pretty new actually. Check their website! :)

    1. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! It takes practice! ^__^ It's pretty easy if you practice on paper or a piece of cardboard before actually doing it on your nails! Thanks again for stopping by!

    1. Thanks Mindy! <3 It took me a lot of practice runs on a piece of cardboard before I liked how my hearts turned out lol! This would look gorgeous with a rose colored polish, if you ended up doing this, I'd love to see a picture! And thank you so much for following me, I have done the same! 1. Aw, I'm so flattered that you like my nail posts! I'm terrible at basic painting but I love nail art! I was thinking about tutorials, but I currently do not have a set up where I can film one easily, but maybe a picture tutorial (though maybe more work, may be easier to produce a post). I'm working on upgrading my equipment for blogging soon. ^__^ I'll keep nail tutorials in mind! Thanks again! <3 You have no idea how much your comment means to me. <333
