FOTD: Fall - L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow in Electrified 510

Hey everyone.  I decided to post my playing around with some shadows I hadn't touched in a long time.  I remember seeing the L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow Duos everywhere and had to pick up a color, but at the time I couldn't choose.  And then, I saw a post and video tutorial from Jen of frmheadtotoe.  Her post with the duo called Electrified (or #510) made me fall in love with that gorgeous deep plum color.  Her tutorial also seemed easy enough to mimic onto myself also!

If you ladies hadn't noticed most of my makeup looks consist of very minimal eyeshadow, if any, and mostly just mascara and eyeliner.  Mascara and eyeliner are really a majority staple in my collection and I do have some shadows, but I guess my problem is I have no idea how to use them! (^.^ );;

Please excuse the poor blending, as I have always suffered the lack of skills in that area, but I did my best and I even threw on a pair of falsies for added "oomph"!

In this picture, the blending isn't so bad!  But for whatever reason, the next picture doesn't really showcase it all that much! (T^T)

This closeup does no justice for how beautiful the metallic taupe color is out of this shadow duo.  It also seems that the deep plum color is washed out by the lighting as well.  I apologize, it was super cloudy/overcast and this was the rare part of the day to see some kind of light in the sky!  *shakes fist at the sky*

This full face picture, I think did a much nicer job of making that gorgeous taupe color show up more, you can see I used it in my inner corners and on the lower inner half of my bottom lashes.  You can also see more of the true color of the deep plum shadow on my outer lower lash line.

The falsies I'm using were also featured in another post, and they are from Darkness lashes.  This particular pair are called K-Ma I think. (Sorry!)  It's a Korean brand I picked up at the local Korean market that had a beauty boutique inside.  I was so ecstatic to find these lashes, I just had to pick some up, I've had the same two pair for over a year, and have only worn them twice.  (I'm a bit scared to wear them out and you would not believe how LONG it took me to get them on!!!)

So what did I use?

Face:
Benefit's Rockateur Blush (I will hopefully have a review up for this soon!)

Eyes:
L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow Duo in 510 Electrified (I purchased this at Target, you can probably get it at any drugstore.)
Darkness Lashes in style K-ma (Found at local Korean market, you  may be able to find these online.  Love these falsies, no need for mascara!)
Duo - Dark Lash Glue (I believe I got mine at Sally's Beauty Supply, but you can find this virtually anywhere!)

Brows:

Lips:
NYX Black Label Lipstick in Bling (I purchased mine here.  You can find NYX products at Ulta.com as well, but I did not see the Black Label lipsticks on the site.)
Milani 3D Glitzy Glamour Gloss in Designer Label #43 (I purchased mine at CherryCulture.com as well, but it doesn't look like they carry this color anymore.  You can find it here, Amazon or eBay.)

Sadly, you cannot see the gorgeous rose gold blush that I recently picked up from Benefit called Rockateur.  I loved it from the moment I saw pictures of it online and then in person, I had totally fallen head over heels!  There was no way I was leaving Sephora without it after having set my eyes upon it in person.  It's super gorgeous and I'm so sad that the lighting in my pictures washed it out completely!  In person, it was there, and in all of it's gorgeous rose-gold glory!  I will definitely be doing a review on this soon!  Have any of you tried it out yet? (Let me know in the comments, what did you think?)

So that was about it for the first Fall FOTD of the year!  There's a reason why I don't use eyeshadow often, it's a lot of work and I am horrible at blending.  Any tips would be much appreciated haha! ^__^  Also, by the picture above, you can tell that I have not cut my hair in FOREVER, and it's getting quite long, and the ends are FAR-IED! (T__T)  Hopefully by my new post, I will have had a haircut and my hair will feel refreshed!  Until next time, see you guys soon and again Thank you for reading! ♥ (^.~ )v

What kinds of makeup looks are you looking forward to for this fall and winter seasons?  Are you looking to do something new with your hair?  Let me know in the comments!

Also, in case you wanted to know how I did this look, I used the video tutorial below, by Jen at frmheadtotoe.

  1. Ooo, love the FOTD, Anna! It's a really pretty look and I think you did an awesome job at it! And haha - it takes me absolutely forever to put on lashes as well! One time, I somehow got glue and liquid eyeliner in my eyeball. It was so painful omg.
Anyways! I'm definitely looking forward to the fall/winter seasons! I don't think my makeup look will change too much, I'm usually simple for most of the year! But I AM looking forward to clothes ohohoh... BOOTS and layers and sweaters OMG I can't wait!

  2. I really like your makeup here Anna, I rarely use eyeliner either since it always goes everywhere when I try and blend it._. But I really like the colour, I'll have to check out the eyeshadow next time I'm out^^
I'm super keen for fall at the moment, even though I'm not a massive fan of really cold weather, I love wearing big jumpers and coats hehe~ I also want to try wearing some darker colours on my lips, but I'm not sure what yet:) x

    1. Thanks Emily! ♥ I always really like the way eyeshadow looks on other people, but for whatever reason I just haven't found the perfect way to adapt eyeshadow looks to my own eye shape so it always ends up looking funky or super muddy -___-; I'm excited for darker lip colors also!! I actually have a color I would've never thought I'd wear but I actually quite like it, I'll have to do a "vampy" post soon haha! I think deep reds are pretty safe, or nice deep plummy/mauve colors ^__^b Thanks again for reading and always leaving awesome comments! ^__^b

    1. In the video tutorial I think she used NYX Black Label lipstick in Diva, but she did mention Bling in her MLBB video (My lips but better) here: http://www.frmheadtotoe.com/2013/09/best-mlbb-my-lips-but-better-lipsticks.html#more

  5. You're beautiful! Your face looks so natural :) I have a question how do you groom your brows? :)

    1. Oh, thank you so much, you're too kind!! ^^; I actually don't really know how to groom my brows, but I've watched a lot of tutorials and basically, I try not to over pluck. I just follow the natural shape of my brows and keep them tidy, and get rid of stray hairs. Maybe I will do a post on that, but it's really nothing special.. I actually always thought they were a bit unkempt looking and somewhat bushy compared to others.

  8. this is such a pretty look. It suits you well and I love frmheadtotoe!!
I really love how long your lashes are here. I am so jealous because my lashes never cooperate even after 30 min of trying to put individual lashes on. (that did not end well hehe)

I hope you get your haircut soon!! Fried hair is never good... speaking of hair... I need a hair cut desperately as well hehe

    1. Hey Mindy! I love frmheadtotoe as well, she's probably my favorite guru! ^__^ These lashes are from Darkness and I found them at a local Korean market by accident! ^^ They're awesome, they provide length, but not so much that it looks totally unnatural. I'm so glad you like the way they look since they took for FOREVER to put on! LOL T^T I have a hair appointment this Thursday after work, but haven't decided what to do yet! >.>; Hope you get your haircut soon too! Would love to see what you get done.

    2. Her and Ilykwylie are my favorite guru's I think!
I think I might look into getting some more asian makeup products at least for my eyes and skin since I think it might suit me better. it's hard to find a good foundation that fits my skin tone.

If I get my haircut, I'll post pics, but I can't wait to see yours!! =)

    3. ^__^ For a while all I used were Drugstore products and I still like certain products, but I slowly started collecting Asian skincare and makeup products and hadn't looked back since >.>; I will say that finding a color match is a LOT easier than with Asian cosmetics and foundations, but I think there are a few Western products I wouldn't mind trying foundation wise, like Makeup Forever, Smashbox or Estdee Lauder foundations. ^^b
