Acne Routine: Part II

  Hi all!  Hope everyone is doing well.  Today I'm updating all of you on my recently updated and new acne routine.  In my previous post here, I introduced some new products I was excited to test out by DERMAdoctor.  I picked up the Ain't Misbehavin' Medicated AHA/BHA Acne Cleanser and the Ain't Misbehavin' Medicated Acne Control Serum to work in conjunction with one another.  I started this new regimen about 1 month ago.  I originally thought I'd do a weekly update, but thought the longer periods of time between, gave a better idea of how long you should give this sort of product to start working, or enough time to begin seeing results if any.  I took pictures at about the 2 week mark after starting the new routine and to my surprise, so far so good!  Compared to the very first entry I posted with the tail end of the worst of my acne (here), the week I began the new routine wasn't so bad (here).  Though, if you take a look at the new pictures I took below at around 2 weeks or a bit more (taken 2/10/14), you can see a significant/slight difference overall.  Pay close attention to my nose area and forehead.  My chin area is still extremely bumpy and my pores a pretty clogged around that area, but I must say - my forehead and nose area cleared up pretty nicely!

Pardon the dark bags under my eyes. -___-;  Ah, t'is the life of a student who is employed full time.  In this picture, you can see my overall complexion has improved greatly compared to my last two posts.

So the two photos above shows nicely that my blemishes are slowly fading, however you can clearly see that the texture of my skin has yet to follow suit.  I'm going to give this another month before I give the DERMAdoctor products a really good, thorough review.  *Warning* The photos below are probably a little too close for comfort! XD  (I just wanted to be sure you got the picture ...)

Here, my chin is the worst of my entire face.  Still battling some of the cysts currently as we speak too.  However I'm happy to report that my overall battle is not really that bad at this time.  I'm so far enjoying using the DERMAdoctor products and really hope I see more results by the next month!  I'm hoping if I keep using it I can use my face makeup like BB cream and such again!  Oh, important note I almost forgot to mention - I've been on a bit of a no-makeup binge for the last 4 months or so actually.  My skin blew up on me that long ago and only now have I started documenting and trying new things.  Because my skin naturally fluctuated between being blemish free or totally blemish ridden, I made the decision to forgo any facial cosmetics to let my skin breathe, with the exception of a touch of eye makeup (just eyeliner and mascara most of the time).

These last two pictures show you how some of my blemishes have healed.  It's healed in such a way that they don't leave as many scars anymore.  Before using anything to treat the acne, I used to get really dark spots after the pimples or cysts went away pretty much 100% of the time.  I notice that this round with the acne, they leave and they leave without pigmentation more often!  I still have hyper pigmentation from old pimples or blemishes, but definitely not as bad as before using the DERMAdoctor products.  Though we'll see in a month about the giant buggers!  Also, considering how much I like the cleanser and serum so far, I'm disappointed as they do not do much for blackheads.  You can probably tell in some of the pictures, my pores are very clogged. -____-; I have yet to find a good exfoliant to use in conjunction to this routine that won't totally screw everything up.  Though I found this lovely post by CrunchyBetty with a few different ingredients and methods for naturally removing blackheads.  Definitely check it out!  I'm going to try the baking soda and water combo and see how that goes.

So what do I think about the DERMAdoctor Ain't Misbehavin' cleanser and acne serum so far? I think it works great!  (So far!)  However, I'm giving it another month just to be sure that it works for me and that it's not just going to  make it seem like everything worked out and then just suddenly stop working with my chemistry or something stupid and then have my skin blow up on me all over again.

How am I using this product currently?  My first week or two, I used the cleanser twice a day, in the morning and at night before bed.  I used the acne serum before my moisturizer and only at night before bed for the first week or two.  On the third to almost fourth week, I continued to use the cleanser twice a day (morning and night) and started using the acne serum twice a day before my moisturizer.  I didn't particularly notice that using the serum twice a day was more effective, but I will say that it definitely helped with the giant angry cysts that would begin to form, and it did a great job keeping it under control!  The cysts didn't just go away overnight with the serum, but it definitely helped with redness, agitation and itchyness.  I think it's safe to say (at least for me) that what I will begin doing is using the serum only at night, with using it as a spot treatment during the day on the really bad areas like my chin.

I'm really hoping sharing my little skin journey or acne battle if you will, will help some of you feel better about battling your own fights with your face!  (Haha!)  I'd be lying if I didn't admit that it brings me down sometimes, but I know I'm always going to struggle a bit with this until I get really old probably, but until then, I'll just keep trying to find things that help me keep stuff under control.  Too busy to worry about it anyway! LOL.  Anyway, I will be back to update my results and hopefully have enough documenting done with photos and such to write a full review on the DERMAdoctor products.

Have any of you tried DERMAdoctor products before?  If so what did you think about them?  Let me know in the comments!  And as always, thanks for reading! ♥ ^.~

Manicure Monday: Valentine's Day 2014

  Hi everyone!  It's been a while since my last Manicure Monday and I did a really simple design for this year.  I went with Essie's Mademoiselle, China Glaze's Ruby Pumps for the hearts, Essie's Blanc for the hearts, Essie's Luxe Effects in A Cut Above for the accent nail, and of course my usual base and top coat, OPI Nail Envy base and Seche Vite fast drying top coat.  You can do the same design or theme and use whatever colors you prefer! ^_^  I apologize as I get home in the evening, so there isn't much sunlight to work with and it's been dreary if it hasn't been snowing.  Also the lights in the house are very yellow -___-;

  UGH!  My pinky chipped!  Typing at work, dishes, cooking and other daily uses of my hands.  Although, I have this problem with many of the opaque or more sheer polishes I own, not just Essie.  They all seem to chip/fade more easily compared to glitter, neon, or more solid shades I have personally found.

I started at first with just the sparkly red hearts (China Glaze Ruby Pumps) but then I thought it was too simple lol.  So I threw in the alternating white hearts.

Essie's A Cut Above is a really gorgeous pink/rose gold glitter and I like it a lot!  It's very eye catching and feminine.  I used a dotting tool to do the hearts, but you can use bobby pins, toothpicks or a nail striper brush.

Oh!  And here's is my Instagram teaser pic!  I quite liked how it turned out!  I also loooove my awesome coffee mug!

Sorry for such a short post!  But this nail art was seriously that simple!  I wish you all a very happy/romantic/fun/loving Valentine's Day with your loved one, loved ones, family or friends! ♥

Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day?  What's your manicure look like this week?  Let me know in the comments! ^.~

Girl Talk: Being a Girl in a Girls' World

  Hello all!  Today's post is just some randomness that I actually decided to make a small series out of for my blog.  I had been talking to my husband about a few different things and he suggested making it into a blog series or at least a post.  Great idea, and it felt better than just jotting it down in my journal, since I am actually searching for other perceptions and comments on the topic.  I'll label it "Life Series" Girl Talk for now and it will just include random topics or feelings that I had and wanted to share with all of you.  If you have been following me for a while, or maybe know me personally, you might know that I am actually a peculiar girl.  Maybe not so peculiar, but I will admit I felt so when I was younger.
