[Currently] 11 Summer Things I'm Diggin'

Hello, hello!  I'm going to do my best to use my free time to my advantage and show my blog here a little bit of love since it is so neglected.  #PLEASEFORGIVEME

Today, I thought I'd share a few different products I have been absolutely starry eyed over so far this Summer.  A few of these items are actually long time favorites, and things I use year round, but I felt  them worthy enough to mention as part of my Summer "lineup".  Some of the things I mention are also just things I really love for the Summer time that aren't beauty related.  Interested?  Good, let's take a tumble shall we?

[Lifestyle] Recently on Instagram

Hi everyone!  It's been a very long while!  Lots has been happening since my last post and I thought I'd jump in and say a quick hello and share a few snapshots from my Instagram in it's full glory!  I mean, we all know we can sit on Instagrizzle™ for hours; and I don't know about you, but I sometimes want to see those 1:1 ratio squares in full view to ooh and ah at.  So here ya have it!  Today I wanted to share a few snapshots I took while spending the afternoon the other day at the Zoo with a friend who came to visit from out of state.  Aside from entertaining a guest for the past week, I've also been up to my ears in schoolwork and work in general.  I haven't doodled or drawn anything in a while, so I apologize, I don't have any doodley doodles to share quite yet.  To see how my trip to the zoo was yesterday, take a tumble!

[Lifestyle]: InstaDoodles

Hello again everyone!  I'm in my final week of the most horrid math class I've ever taken (discrete mathematics for IT) and I have finally completed my case study paper for the class; the only thing left is the actual math exam which I hope to complete early this next week.  I've been able to complete homework early and with an hour or so to spare before bedtime the last few weeks, I was able to get in some doodling!  It's been such a long time since I've had any drawings or doodles, and if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I've recently got back into things!  I decided to do a quick post to share my recent doodles!  Hope you enjoy!

Are you in school at the moment?  Are you heading into the hell that is exams or finals?  Let me know how you're coping in the comments!  I'd love to hear what you guys do to de-stress!  I've taken up doodling and drawing again, and it's been such a life saver.  It's the only way to keep my sanity during these really difficult classes.  Good luck to those of you still in school or Uni/College!
Until next time everyone, deep thank yous to those of you who still check back with me often! (^.~ )v

[Tag]: The Would You Rather Beauty Tag

Hi everyone! I thought I'd do a quick little post today and complete this fun tag! Thanks for the tag Jo! Jo's answers were super fun and as always, complete with entertaining photos to boot; her answer to the hair question cracks me up! Find her fun answers on her blog here

The tag today is the "Would You Rather Beauty tag". I usually dislike these kinds of tags, because the questions are totes ridiculous! Let's see how well I get through these!

1. Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows?

This was kind of a difficult question for me to answer! I have a lot of all the things listed and I get attached. However, if I answer based on my usage on each product; I'd say I'd give up all my palettes and eye shadows. This girl is all about eyeliner, and I don't have to have eye shadow on to accomplish liner.

2. Would you rather chop all of your hair off or never be able to cut it again?

This question kind of irks me. So, do they mean that you can chop all your hair off and keep growing it out and chop it off again? Because that's kind of what I already do...? Let's just go with that. OF COURSE, I'd rather chop all my hair off over not being able to cut it ever again. I loved my long hair, but seriously, it got SUPER annoying and became too much work after a while. I mean when my arms get tired from combing or brushing my hair, we've got a problem. Also, maybe I'm lucky or something, but I'm one of those girls that likes pretty much both short and long lengths. Seriously, who thought of these questions!? lol

3.Would you rather have coral cheek or pink cheek?

I'm going with coral cheeks. I love a pink cheek, but I think corals show up better on my individual skin tone compared to pink. I noticed my blush collection consists of coral shades, and if there's pink, they're on a deeper, or brighter almost coral tone anyway. Plain pinks or soft pinks usually don't last on me long, or don't show up, especially in pictures. ;__; Coral all the way!

4. If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or make up?

So, I chose clothes over makeup. I know, you're probably asking why I would do that because this is a beauty/makeup blog. Makeup has always been something I enjoyed and just love playing with it, and sharing my opinions about it. However, I feel like the older I've gotten, I've been more into what I'm wearing clothing wise, than anything! Clothes make me just as happy as makeup does. If I had to choose; I'd buy myself a new wardrobe with that $1,000 bucks! I mean, I already have enough makeup currently, I don't need more, and certainly not $1,000 worth more of makeup. So I'd totally go on a shopping spree with that $1,000.

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

This question is stupid. I wouldn't want to do either! >__< I highly doubt this will become some new trend either. I guess if I HAVE to pick one, I'd wear eyeliner as lipstick. I mean, we can just kind of go Halloween/Goth right? But in all seriousness, I think that the "vampy" looks is amazing, and I wish I could pull that off. And from the photo I found off Google, black lipstick can look really elegant! O_o

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

Sorry MAC, my loyalties lie with Sephora. I can't say much about MAC products. I have like one or two MAC brushes that are okay, that I'm not totes cray cray over, and I have their pressed blot powder which I find does what it's supposed to. However, Sephora, sweet, sweet, Sephora. Holds all kinds of different brands, and I'm like a kid in a candy store. Need I say more?

7. Would you rather only use one eye-shadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life?

I'd rather use only one eye shadow color for life. I love different shades of lip color. I'm not as adventurous or experimental with my eye shadows. My shadow collection is kind of consistent of neutrals and the same kinds of shades, with a handful of special colorful shades.

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?

Hm.. winter clothes in summer. I work pretty much the entire week, and our office is stupid icebox cold. The AC is always blasting, and I wear a jacket or sweater of some kind pretty much all Summer at work, and pants. lol It's too cold for anything else. I think I can deal with winter clothes as long as there's AC in the summer.

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

I love both! >___< I think I'd do bright nails all year round! Bright colors perk me up and make me happy, though I love darks for fall and winter, I would still rock bright colors just fine!

10. Would you rather give up your favourite lip colour or favourite eye product?

hrm... lip color or eye product? I guess I'd give up my favorite lip color... because there are always various shades of one color (I could just find a different dupe?). My favorite eye product is my eye drops and eye cream. Girl ain't giving any of that up. I need them! >:O

11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

Messy bun. If I could put my hair up. lol My hair is short, so it's ponytails only; and they get a little boring. Especially with my shorter length hair. I don't mind ponytails because you can make them messy or sleek them up and add bows, ribbons and cute accessories, but there's something about a messy bun that makes you look polished, but unkempt. I love the effortless look messy buns give you.

12. Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lip gloss?

I love my nail polish, but I'm so busy these days I haven't had any time for nail art things. So I'd rather never be able to paint my nails again, because I love lipgloss. Man, this one is tough. I'd RATHER not have to choose, but as my life currently permits; it's the nail polish I'd have to forgo.

13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?

Um ew. I guess I'd rather sharpie them in. *shudders*

14. Would you rather live without make up or nail polish?

UGH. I love both and enjoy both very much... but I guess I'd give up nail polish over makeup. Some days I just feel like yuck, and makeup does a lot for my mood surprisingly. Though, I'd say if I could never wear makeup again for whatever reason, I'd be ok with that. I don't need it, I just like it and enjoy it.

That's a wrap for this tag! Some of the questions are ridiculous and completely silly, but that's part of the fun. I'd like to tag everyone who would like to participate! Let me know in the comments what are some things you'd choose, or if you do a tag response, let me know! I'd love to know what you guys picked! Until next time, thanks again for stopping by! (^.~ )v

[Lifestyle] ECCC 2015 and Sakura Con 2015

Hi everyone!  I wanted to do a quick post to share some of my time at the two conventions I attended at the end of March and beginning of April.  This year, we went to Emerald City Comic Con two days, Friday and Saturday, and we attended Friday for Sakura Con.

We had so much fun!  There was tons to see at both Cons, and definitely lots of panels to try and make at ECCC.  I think of the two, I had the most fun at ECCC.  This was my first year at Sakura Con and it was definitely an experience!  There's definitely different cultures, especially between the two cons.  I'm used to ECCC, so Sakura Con was different for me.

I apologize now, I didn't have as many cool pics of cosplayers as I would have liked, but I got caught up in all the different booths, wheeling around hubby, and hanging out with our long time Internet friend who we got to meet face to face for the first time!  (We've known each other for 8 years now).  Sorry, this post may be a bit boring, but it is decently picture heavy. ^.^;  Oh, and if you're wondering hubby is ok, he decided to rent a wheelchair for ECCC this year since we were going two days, and he is not supposed to be on his feet for too long because of his knees and back.  ECCC is usually a busy con for us every year, lines for signings, panels, and merch and artists booths; there is so much standing and walking around and we usually get there super early in the morning and leave late at night, so it's a good 10+ hours of standing or walking; which is not good for him (you'll see in some pics that he's not in the wheelchair; he took breaks to stretch his legs when he needed to).  So, without further ado, take a flip!

[FOTD] Featuring: Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in Nude Beach

Hello again everyone!  I'm back with another FOTD (face of the day) post today.  It's rainy, dreary, gloomy and very cold today.  The lighting isn't the best, but hopefully the photos I was able to get will do Nude Beach justice!  I'll say right now, the color is a lot warmer in person.  I didn't really have any plans, and didn't go out, so as quick as I threw this FOTD together, I washed my face and got in my PJs just as fast!  Today's FOTD star is again the lips!  I decided to feature the Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in Nude Beach that I did a small review for a few days ago here.

Face:
  • Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Primer
  • Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream in #2
  • Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder
  • Basic Beauty Blender I picked up from Walgreens
Eyes:
  • Innisfree Mineral Eye Primer
  • Etude House Play 101 Pencil in #50
  • Naked 3: Darkside and Blackheart mixed together over the Play 101 pencil
  • Lioele Eyebrow Auto Pencil in #3 Grey Black
  • NYX Control Freak Eyebrow gel
  • Dolly Wink Long Mascara
Lips:
  • Rosebud Perfume Co. Lip balm in Strawberry
  • Too Faced La Creme lipstick in Nude Beach

I really like Nude Beach!  It's my first nude shade in my lipstick/gloss collection and I'd say it's pretty suited and flattering for my skin tone.  I have yellow undertones, so nude colors usually wash me out, but not Nude Beach.  I feel it's just pink enough to come off nude and not overly pink.  The formula is super creamy, hydrating and a nice finish, with a good slip.  This is a great everyday lipstick too.  It can be paired with a lot of different makeup or eyemakeup looks.

It looks super pink in these last two closeups of my lips, but I think it's because I have very pigmented lips and because it's rainy outside, the lighting has been inconsistent the whole afternoon.  I also didn't bother concealing or blotting out my natural lip color, so the color you see in these last two pictures are probably the result of Nude Beach and my natural lip color mixed together.  Regardless, I quite like it.  Not too pink, nice and warm like I was hoping for a nude shade.

As I also mentioned, I used a "beauty blender" of sorts to apply my BB cream today.  I have never used this kind of tool before and I personally prefer using a really dense brush or my fingers to apply BB cream.  I 99% of the time will apply it with my fingers, because they naturally warm up the product making it easier to apply and spread, and it happens to be suuuupppper fast when I only have 5-10 minutes to put a face on before work and run out the door.  The blender I purchased is from Walgreens and it's just a generic/basic brand that was about $5.  Since this is my first time using this type of tool, my first impression of it was "this is kinda weird O_o".  I like it's squishy-ness, and it does do a nice job of blending.  The blender was just as a fast as using a brush, but I'd say fingers are the fastest tool, especially applying BB creams.  The tool itself seems pretty easy to clean and maintain.  My only gripe so far, I already have a tiny tear or two on the sponge, and I didn't even handle it roughly or anything, so I'm thinking it may have happened when I was taking it out of the packaging.  Oh well, it still works.  Overall; it's a pretty nifty makeup tool, but from what I've read, beauty blenders are supposed to give you an "airbrushed" effect, and I don't really feel that it did that for me.  The results I received with using the beauty blender is pretty much the same as if I used my fingers.  Though, I don't wear a lot of BB cream, I usually use a really thin layer to even out my skin tone and call it a day.  I'll keep using it and decide later if I think it's worth replacing.  I've done fine without one, but it's kind of nice to be able to sponge and pat on my BB cream and then really pat it in with the bottom of the blender (it's a larger and flatter surface).  Here is the one I purchased, but the one I have is the smaller version.  Do you guys have a "beauty blender" sponge?  What do you think of it?  Do you notice a difference in the finished look of your makeup when using a blender?

That's it for today's FOTD.  I hope you enjoyed this post and hope you found it a bit helpful in conjunction with my review of the Nude Beach La Creme Lipstick by Too Faced.  Let me know if you have La Creme lipsticks, what's your favorite shade?  Also, do you guys have a favorite beauty tool?  I'd love to hear suggestions or recommendations, I love new things!  Until next time everyone! Thanks again for reading. (^.~ )v

[FOTD] Featuring: Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Strawberry

Hello again everyone!  As promised, I'm back with a post today's FOTD (Face of the Day) featuring one of the lippies I recently reviewed here, Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Strawberry.  I kept the face and eyes pretty neutral and simple and let the lips shine!  I love a good red lip, and I'm really loving this product, and the shade of red it is, is just perfect!

On the face:
  • Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Primer
  • Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream in #2
  • Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder
On the eyes:
  • Innisfree Eye Primer
  • Holika Holika Holy Deer Eyeshadow Trio in #2 (I think this is discontinued now ;__; )
  • Benefit Watts Up! Cream highlighter for the inner corner and brow bone highlight
  • Etude House Play 101 Pencil in #1
  • Dolly Wink Liquid Liner in Black
  • Lioele Auto Eyebrow Pencil in #3 Grey Black
  • NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel
On the lips:
  • Rosebud Perfume Co. Strawberry lip balm
  • Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Strawberry
Not pictured (because I forgot lol):
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Exposed
  • Dolly Wink Long Mascara
I purchased the Innisfree, Holika Holika, Etude House, Lioele eyebrow pencil, and Dolly Wink, or any of the Korean or Japanese products I use at PrettyandCute.comw2beauty.com, or ibuybeauti.com.

Whoa close up! O__O *smacks face on camera* Sorry guys, but I had to get my eyemakeup in there.  This is why I don't really wear eyeshadow much, it never seems to show up on me, or at least in photos.  I think I need to really pack it on, but then in person, it looks all muddy.  I can't win, anyone else have this issue?  Also, I have super, small, tiny eyelid space, so not much to work with.  That's why this girls' best friend is eyeliner!  I swear there is eyeshadow on my eyelids! (>__< )o

I really like this shade of red, because it makes my teeth look so white!  Because truth: they are not that white in person.  I actually have pretty badly stained teeth.  So a combination of the lighting in my bedroom and this red lip, does wonders!

In case ya'll are wondering what I used for the waves (attempted waves) in my hair, I have a Nume Magic Curling wand in the 35mm.  I love this thing and I use it all the time, even on my shorter length hair.  It's amazeballs for longer lengths, especially the 35mm barrel.  I have been contemplating getting the 25mm barrel for my short hair, but I can't justify dropping another $60 on a curling wand lol.  That's on sale too, I think these babies go for a normal $70+.  If you're wondering what I think, Nume hair products are bombtastic, and I'd highly recommend them; they're definitely worth the moolah you drop on them.  I have the 35mm curling wand and their hair dryer, and I love both!  Use them pretty much daily with no obscene hair damage what so ever.

"On Wednesdays, I wear red". - Anna

With that last side-eye, I hope you enjoyed this FOTD post featuring the amazing vibrancy of Melted Strawberry in the Too Faced Melted lipstick line.  I highly recommend this shade if you're a red lover, like me.  I apologize for the inconsistent lighting in the pictures, it's rainy and cloudy, yet still bright so I tried to take advantage of the brightness and take a few photos, but ended up having to adjust the brightness of each photo anyway, to try and capture the amaze that is Melted Strawberry. (-___- ); *photographing things is hard.* Anywho, thanks again for visiting, and I'll be sure to do another FOTD featuring the Too Faced La Creme lipstick in Nude Beach also!  Until next time! [Trending] Red Lips: Too Faced Melted Liquified Longwear Lipsticks - Melted Strawberry

Hello again everyone!  I'm on a post-roll!!!  Two posts in a row!?  In the same month!?!  In the same week!?!?!  One day after the other!?!?!?!?!?!?! (O______o )!?  Yes, yes I know, it's a miracle; it's called not having any classes for a week! *fist pump*  And, I know that unwritten/written "blogger rules" say that you should space out your posts etc etc, but I'm a freakin' rule breaker guys, I go against the grain, including blogger grains. *bump it - you know you want to*.  I kid, I just got excited about being able to blog again for at least a week, and I want to get in as much to share as possible because I seriously missed this!

  So I decided this weekend would be a great time to get in some thoughts about new products I've picked up as of late and share!  I mentioned in my previous post that I had picked up a couple of lip products from Too Faced to add to the collection.  Side note: aside from beauty related products, and cosmetics, I've also been slowly adding things to my wardrobe too!  I have been contemplating including a fashion post/series to the blog for some time, but photographing clothing, modeling the clothes, and all that is hard; MAD PROPS to fashion bloggers, seriously!  I may find a creative way to incorporate fun wardrobe/fashion things soon, because I've been a little obsessed with some trends recently!  F21 has been the bane of my existence lately. (-_- );

So today, I wanted to share a few things about the Too Faced Melted Liquified Longwear Lipstick I picked up in Melted Strawberry.  These lipsticks are definitely different from the typical lipstick you'd find in my little collection.  I don't have anything quite like this formula, or with this type of application.  It has a slanted, felt-tip applicator, with a couple holes where the product dispenses.  I was a little unsure about this applicator, but to my surprise it's pleasantly easy to use, precise, and dispenses product evenly.  It's comfortable to use on the lips too; nice and soft.  I've used some felt applicator tips for lip products (mainly glosses) and some of them can be scratchy or just wimpy, and provide no control over the product whatsoever.

The Melted lipsticks come in squeezy-tubes!  I like this packaging idea; it's hygienic because you don't have to dip your fingers or anything into a jar or tube, and I feel like when you're running low on the product, it'll be easy to scrape or get out every last bit of the product.  This is definitely "bang for your buck" packaging.  I can see cutting the bottom of the tube off once you get really low on product, and using a brush to apply from there; easy!

Onto the shade!  Melted Strawberry is a gorgeous, punchy, bright, vibrant, and very flattering red shade on most skin tones, I'd say!  I love red, and Melted Strawberry has become one of my favorite shades, I just like that "bite" it has, so bright and eye catching, I just love it!  On Sephora.com, they claim Melted Strawberry is a "blood orange shade".  I'd say that's a very accurate description of this red color.  I'm glad to have added this shade to my red collection.  This particular shade of red will be perfect for Summer!

Regarding the product itself, claims (taken from Sephora) include:
  • Precise applicator
  • Intense saturated color
  • Shine of a gloss
  • Lasting power of a stain
  • Rich color with staying power/long lasting
  • Made without ickies - parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
  My thoughts and conclusion:
  • Application: I would say the applicator is pretty precise for being a slanted felt-tipped applicator.  I would say for me at least, it definitely eliminates a need for a lip brush or lip liner.  However, that being said, if you want extreme, precise definition, and crisp edges (the kind you want when applying any bold shade, especially reds) you could benefit from a lip liner and lip brush; though for me, I'm lazy and I love red enough to just throw it on, and the applicator of the Melted lipsticks lives up to it's precision. Thumbs up on application/precision (^.^ )b
  • Pigmentation/color/finish: Melted Strawberry is a lovely shade!  I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun, bright, juicy, and strawberry red; this one is perfect for vibrant color lovers.  Pigmentation is off the hook!  The swatch above is after just one swipe!  I'd say this product can also be layered for a more intense color payoff, or even blended out for a lighter wash of color.  The finish; I wouldn't say it has the shine of a gloss.  I have lip glosses that are way glossier than these Melted Lipsticks; so maybe "gloss" is in the eye of the lippie holder?  Gloss or not, I like the finish!  It's definitely not matte, and the slight glossy finish I experience is pleasant and helps to make a shade like Melted Strawberry more wearable for day.  This product definitely lives up to it's pigmentation expectations!  Thumbs up for color and pigmentation!  (^.^ )b
  • Scent:  I feel like there's a slight scent, but it's hardly detectable to my nose.  If there is a scent, I'd say it's not unpleasant and definitely not a bother.  There isn't much of a taste to it either.  If you have smelled these, can you describe the scent?  I can't for the life of me!
  • Longevity:  I struggled with this a bit.  If you read reviews on the Melted Lipsticks, they're kind of all over the charts on this topic.  Some say if you let the product "set" it will last a decent amount of time, other reviews don't mention setting the product but say that it only lasts a couple hours, and some reviews have even said that the product is not very long lasting at all.  My personal opinion/experience; it's fairly long lasting.  I think the best thing to do is let the product set on your lips for a couple minutes.  I actually like to blot once with a tissue, and then while the tissue is still on my lips, blot a bit with finishing powder, and apply one more coat. Lasts for a couple hours for me; however not so much if eating and drinking.  I'll have to test the eating and drinking bit out more and report back!  Overall; fairly long lasting, but I wouldn't call it "long wearing".  I have lipglosses that last longer than this lipstick.  Longevity get's a smiley face, but no thumbs up. (^.^ )
Edit
I have a new post here featuring this lippie in a FOTD and I'm updating this review with a new opinion on longevity.  I put this lippie on around the afternoon, 1 or 2pm; didn't do much for the better part of the day besides dinking around on the computer.  Around 5:30pm, I had dinner; even had seconds, and two glasses of water, kissed my husband on the lips (a tiny bit of transfer, but not much) and I still have this stuff on my lips as if I just applied it!  My lips also still feel fairly nice, no dry and uncomfortable feeling at all.  I did mention below, that it left an unflattering stain once it started to wear off, but today, I had applied a good solid 2 coats, and it's not faded at all!  When I originally wrote this review, I had a light coat, and blended it out with my fingers, so I think it really depends on how much of this product you put on.

Final thoughts - This is a fantastic lip product, I'd totally buy a new tube when I'm finished.
End edit.
  • After effects:  Melted Strawberry will definitely leave a "stain" on the lips.  I wouldn't say it's a flattering left over stain either (at least on me).  So once this baby fades, I would personally need to re-apply.  The formulation is nice and smooth, and easy to apply/spread on; it's not chalky, sticky, or heavy feeling.  I love that this formulation is lightweight, but still packs a pigmented punch!  This stuff does not leave my lips dry or irritated at all; after a day of wear, my lips still feel in tip-top shape. Thumbs up! (^.^ )b
Overall, I would recommend the Too Faced Melted liquid lipsticks for those of you who really want super pigmented pouts.  They're easy to apply, no fuss, no muss, and it comes in a variety of fun and pretty shades.  No need for lip brushes or lip liners really, unless you want to, then you do what you want!  Lasting power could definitely be longer, especially since the Melted Lipsticks go for about $21 per tube.  That being said, a couple hours of long lasting, pigmented wear is okay in my book for $21 bucks. (^.^ )b

I hope you guys enjoyed this quick review blurb!  What's your favorite go to lip shade?  Have you tried the Melted lipsticks from Too Faced, if so what do you think and what shades do you recommend?  Let me know in the comments below!  Thank you again for visiting and I hope to see you in my next post!  Until next time!  (^.~ )v

[Trending] Nudes: Too Faced La Creme Lipstick - Nude Beach

Hello everyone!  Happy March!  I can't believe it's already March!!!  It's crazy how fast time has flown by!  It's Spring time soon, and then before we know it, Summer time baby!  I love Summer, and I just cannot wait!

I broke out my old point-and-shoot camera today and it felt good to not just use the camera on my phone!  Today I wanted to share a few things about Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in Nude Beach; I have all kinds of fun colored lipsticks; basic pinks, feisty reds, light berries, and fun oranges, but I did not have a nude shade as part of my tiny collection and thought, why not go on a mission to search for one that suited my skin tone.  So for my birthday, I decided to pick up a couple Too Faced things.  I chose this lipstick and also a Melted lipstick in Melted Strawberry; obviously because I love red, and I can't have too many red shades in my lippie collection hurr hurr. ^.~  I'll share more about the Melted Strawberry in another post, right now, I want to talk about how popular "nude" has been lately.  I've seen it all over Pinterest and Instagram.  Nude or barely their overall makeup, nude eye makeup looks, and the ever so coveted nude lip.  I was never a huge fan of the nude lip trend before because it always seemed a bit "unhealthy" or "washed out" looking on some, myself included.  I could never find the right shade, and I felt like my skin tone was just not meant to work with nude lip colors!  Fortunately, all I had to do was find the right shade/tone for me.  I decided to give the La Creme lipstick a go!

Too Faced carries several other "nude" shades in the La Creme lipstick line, but I had done most of my research on Nude Beach and decided it would work with my skin tone over the other ones.  I am so dumb, I did not take a picture of a swatch or with it on my lips (they're obscenely dry and flaky at the moment, and it would not have been pretty or flattering.  I'll be sure to do a FOTD featuring the shade soon!).

Nude beach is a little difficult for me to describe in terms of color.  It looks really great and accurately "nude" on a lot of lighter skinned people, and I've also seen it look more on a neutral/nude pink side on others.  On me, I'd say it is a nude with a more mauve undertone.  I really liked that it was a darker nude that leaned more on a pink or mauve side, because if I had gone with something more pale or cool toned, I'm sure it would have washed me out.  Nude Beach is definitely a warm toned nude.

The formula and texture of this lipstick is divine.  I reaaaaaaallly love it!  It's so lush?  I  mean, my goodness, it really is a dream to put on.  It's soft, creamy, hydrating, and the scent reminds me of lemon-y treats... waffers even?  I have no idea, but the scent is delicious.  The La Creme lipstick line (at least Nude Beach) is a dream to apply; super smooth and glides like a dream, lovely finish, and is fairly long lasting.  The finish is not matte by any means.  It has a nice slip to it, and has a moisturized finish; it's not high shine, but imparts a nice "hydrated glow".  I really like this on, and plan on collecting more shades from this line.

The packaging; it is quite luxurious!  I don't think I really have anything that looks remotely as fancy as these lipsticks!

I mean come'on!  Look at that!!!  Who wouldn't feel amaze pulling this out of their makeup bag or purse?  I felt so fancy opening up the box and ripping off that cap to swatch this baby!  The packaging is really solid!  It's sturdy, and has a really gorgeous feeling semi-matte finish; I believe it's metal?  I've no idea what the packaging is made of, but it ain't cheap, and definitely has a nice weight to it.  Also noteworthy:  Anyone else get this satisfaction?  When I close the cap on this thing, I can just tell, that there's this air-tight-seal thing going on, and it makes me feel like my lipstick will be super fresh or have that "brand new" feel to it, every time I open it.  It doesn't even click shut like some lipstick caps do, but it's got this suction type feel.  I don't know, just go to a Too Faced store or Sephora, open up a tube, and close it, you'll know what I'm talking about.  Long story short, it feels COOL.

The La Creme lipsticks are definitely the more pricey lipsticks out of my entire collection, but I can totally see why!  Eye catching and luxurious packaging, wonderful product formulation and a nice variety of shades to choose from.  Also, who doesn't love a lipstick that hydrates and moisturizes?  Pucker up ladies and gents, the Too Faced La Creme lipsticks are a winner.  These go for about $22 a tube.  I think I'd definitely re-purchase whenever I run out, but I don't go through lipsticks too fast, so lucky me?

I can't wait to pair this with a more dramatic or smokey eye makeup look soon, or even do a total "nude" look, but I need something a bit more dramatic on one feature or the other, otherwise my face will look super flat, washed out, and dead. (x__X )  That's not really that pretty so yeah.

What do you think about the nude trend?  Are you a fan?  Are there any other trends you're a fan of?  If so, let me know what those are in the comments!  Hope you enjoyed this quick share!  Thanks again for visiting and I hope to see you on my next post!  Until next time! (^.~ )v

[Lifestyle]: A Memorable, and Most Favorite Birthday

I just celebrated my 27th birthday yesterday and it was an especially special and memorable one.  It's been the best birthday I've ever had by far, and thus far in the 27 years I've been breathing.  First off, I've never been a big birthday person and hardly ever truly "celebrated" it as most people do; parties, surprise get togethers or parties, cake with candles, tons of presents, the whole shabang, etc.  The last "real" birthday party I had was one my parents threw me when I turned 7 or 8, with family friends, and some family members with their kids, a cake and a song, and some presents.
As a teenager, I always "did stuff" for my birthday; went shopping, got to eat my favorite meal, got some cash etc.  As an adult (18 and older), I've always been a "birthday dinner" kind of gal, and whether with family or friends, I'd be treated to a dinner at my favorite place, or a restaurant of my choice and enjoyed everyone's company.  Long explanation short (which I maybe should have just said earlier) I'm pretty low-key when it comes to celebrating my own birthday.  Also something to note: I'm not one for too much attention so, in some ways I almost hope for low-key things, but surprises are fun!  (I feel awkward being the center of attention sometimes, anyone else feel like that?)  And on my 27th, that's exactly what I got, a surprise.

[Sidetracked] Raphael: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Series

Helloooooo 2015!  My first post of the year, and here's to hoping for many more and more frequent postings!  Sadly, my freedom that is Winter Break from classes ends tomorrow! ;___;  I plan to post and share more on the blog this year as part of my personal resolutions.  I really enjoy blogging and will do my best to make more time for my lonely blog!  (This involves actually posting niche blog related things,  ya know like... I don't know makeup!? LOL - There is a real lack of beauty things here! ;___; I apologize!)  I also wanted to do my best to make more time for art; it's a huge stress reliever for me and I genuinely missed letting the creative juices flow.

For my first post of 2015, I am pleased to finally share the final and last installment of my drawing series for TMNT.  I was quite pleased with this drawing, and only wish that my camera phone picked up my detailing better.  I apologize for the quality, I'm in the works of getting myself a proper scanner!  So without further ado, please enjoy my last installment of TMNT, Raphael!

You may find the picture I used for reference here. I used VSCO Cam to edit these photos a bit to help the lines and shading show up better.  I have been using Sakura Micron pens in various sizes for inking, a mechanical pencil for sketching, tortillions for shading and blending, and 2B and HB graphite pencils by Derwent for shading.  For the color, I have been using Prisma Color pencils. I have been really enjoying all the tools I've been using for some time, and would definitely recommend them to any artists or sketchers out there. ^.^b

I'm fairly new to the Sakura Micron pens, but I do love their ink flow and the control I have on my lines.  My only grip is I run out of ink quite quickly after a few drawings, but I suppose if you consider the amount of inking I'm doing, it's pretty expected.  They are also quite affordable!  I've found all my tools at Michael's.  I have also used Derwent pencils for years, since middle school and I will always continue using them for sketching and shading!  Very nice quality pencils.

That's it for my first post for 2015, and I hope you all enjoyed that last drawing.  I plan to begin a new fanart series for Sailor Moon; I was pretty inspired because of the re-release Crystal Series.  I've loved Sailor Moon since I was like 10, and it always brings back good childhood memories of waking up extra early in the summer at 8am to catch the original series on TV.  I've been keeping up with the release on Crunchyroll.

Are you a fan of Sailor Moon?  What other shows bring back memories for you?  Let me know in the comments below!  I would love to hear your thoughts and if you have suggestions, I'd love to check them out!

Until my next post, I'll catch you all then!  Thanks again for sticking with me and my little blog for another year, I hope you'll continue to return! ♥ To all my close blogging friends (you know who you are), here's to 2015 and more blog posts together!!!
